I used to get alcohol fuelled headaches like that. Now I can only consume 3 glasses of wine it’s not nearly a problem

I reckon we can win I’m not as enamoured with the Swans as this unbeatable team as many…they have games like every other where they look pretty ordinary, lost to a poor Essendon at the MCG last year for example

I have no idea what to expect today. We are due to beat Sydney.

Hopefully we shut down papley, buddy and don't let the McCartin brothers dominate like last time.

Obviously looking forward to seeing what VanRooyen can do

Just bank the 4 points dees.

Last week was a wake-up (I hope) for us. For 3 1/2 quarters we were hammered after handling the ball like a bg bar of wet soap. Happy we have a beauty of a day.

Would like to see a positive response that shows that they hate losing. Hit them hard at the coal face, the engine room, the stoppages.

Dynamic, risk taking seems to be the way to go.

C'mon Dees, control the momentum, take the opportunities, mark everything, dominate with our transitioning game from defence to offence and vice-versa, and adjust the backline so they don't get easy forward 50 marks when they don't blast it in.

Go Dees

He’s not playing for Casey today. Nor is J Smith.

Only a rumour at this stage but Laurie and Dunstan to play only half a game in case they’re required.

Hopeful, rather than confident today. Sixteen of the premiership players present, plus Hunter so 17 from the GF, No shortage of talent but the Swans have had the wood on us. Need a big game from Trac, Clarry and May/Lever. Pity no Kozzie. Hopefully he's learned.

I agree, our fumbling, especially out of the centre, is a concern and a block to our gameplan.

As you have also mentioned our kicking to target players last week was atrocious.

" last week"?

When hasn't it been ?

The best list in the league a generational midfield and not one of them is quick or can hit a target by hand or foot on any regular basis!

What I most liked about the podcast with Selwyn was the reiteration that ‘we’ as all clubs are ‘process driven’ irrespective of outcomes.

Reset and focus on process and 9/10 the wins will come.

cheerio and go dees

20 games to go in the home and away season after this one. Just saying!

pies and swans look like the two teams to beat atm, but we know this changes through the season.

We we were 10-0 last year (and the year before). Couldn’t sustain that momentum either year, but recovered it in 2021 (helped by a good run with injuries).

it would be great to win without Max and Kozi, and would give us some confidence that we probably need to have when we play the Swans later in the year when it counts for more.

But, jeez, some perspective on this site would be nice!

Question.

Is it a possession to the kicker, for a kick out, after a point has been scored.

Is there any difference if kicked before the kick off line or outside it?

Goody needs to get the boys fired up. we need intensity and focus for 4 quarters

Yze needs to earn his money too and sort out the midfield. 60 clearances to 32 was pathetic last week

Fire up boys!

Maybe let Choco coach

Smith is injured but melksham was the emergency and is not playing for Casey.

I am stunned.

Lose Grundy and Spargo can ruck.

To then be risking JVR in his first game in the ruck, where we know knee injuries are common, would be unbelievable.

If Tom hasn’t come up, we could have used Tommo as the sub, forward, back or even ruck.

I believe if they run out of the square it is a possession. If they kick it in the square it isn’t.

Thanks. Cheap stats for the kicker. Doesn’t seem right.

you’ll be pumped if we lose today won’t you?

start a ‘Sack Goodwin’ thread, is that the plan?

Looking forward to seeing JVR debut, if he shows all the competitiveness that he does in VFL he’ll do okay! Tough day to start against Swans, but he’ll have a crack.

Looks like we’ve picked mobile team to play the Swans, so good test early on for us. Be good to have Kossie, as he brings something else re pressure and just does some exhilarating passages of play!

Be great to win today!

Go Demons!!

So true …it would good if we could show some of the arrogance of supporters on the Sydney forum

To be fair I'm guilty of showing it pre lions game.

I love Kozzie but that hit was a total brain fade and he's let his team down.

He's young so he gets a pass . Just hope he learns from it, appreciates the club sticking by him and resigns.

We need his X factor.

Is this really what you think? That Petracca is slow and Clarry can’t hit a target by hand? No idea how we won a premiership with such a slow unskillful group.

The side looks disjointed and we don't know how to play under Grundy

Best point made so far.  We don't look too good when Grundy is rucking

Teams that move the ball super quick with assured ball handling and can hit targets are getting the wins.

That is the same as the last 100 years is it not? 😇

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
