Collingwood remind me of Melbourne in 21, not the style but the team buy in and pressure. I can’t believe people are still doubting them, they look like they will be better this year than last year.

Thought the same thing. Just hope it's not the same result as we had.

That free to Elliot (behind scored) for "dragging it in" was carp.  Tiger did start to drag it in but never controlled it, and the Magpie tackler nearly pulled the defender's head off.

Surely HTB must first mandate a legal tackle.  High contact / tackle must surely always take precedence?

Yes but they are running in waves from every line. As you say 2 receivers running forward ready to collect.
each line has exactly the same mindset

They are a very, very good side. Sad but true.

Are you saying they prefer the 'outside 5' option vs standing the mark Mr Leg?

Or....are you saying they initially stand the mark then walk backwards away from it even if they oppo hasn't played on yet?

Always the first and then the second when they can get away with it. If the kicker takes a step sideways, they start moving backwards, beating the umpires play on call, who let it go, as the kicker is off and running.

Just a little tactic they use, but it is the wave run that is winning them games and a fierce desire to win every contested ground ball.

How was that not holding the ball against Daicos??

They're genuine premiership favourites for me right at this minute.

I'm ready just to turn off this game. It's really depressing seeing the pies winning all the time & there supporters all happy

and will regret missing a couple of sitters too.

I hate games like this: the lesser of the two evils get your hopes up a couple of times only to go down to the greater of the two evils. 😑

I agree, it’s very early on but it feels like there a lock for a top four spot.

Long way to go. Got to keep a healthy list first. But they definitely have the hunger - that’s for sure.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
