This. It’s not a stretch to say that Gawn missing half or a whole season is going to ruin our chances of winning the flag. Not only is he a superstar he’s the heart and soul of this team. Everyone looked absolutely done when he went off. If it was a simple knee knock they’d get on with it. Deep down I reckon everyone knows it’s probably the worst possible result.

It's true, but remember how Collingwood responded to Howe's gruesome injury last week.

Moore mentioned it post-game. It's hard, brutal even, but part of the job is to put that stuff behind you and get back to work. Collingwood did it last week after seeing their good mate snap his arm the wrong way and look like he was passing out from the pain. We now have to do it in the face of Gawn's injury.

Chin up Jaded, it is hard but until we know for sure try not to go there.

Even so, the sun will rise tomorrow.

Reading some of the foam in here is literally making me sick. You've got people all week basically guaranteeing we'll win all tough and everything. Now a lot of those same people are jumping off and saying season over. More bile than Sydney Harbour, you have literally become the arrogance of the other sides like Geelong and Hawthorn that you let us know how much you hate on a weekly basis.

Pull your heads out of your collective rear ends and get behind this team for [censored]'s sake. I know it's a terrible situation, yes I'm really annoyed how we are playing but reach deep down inside and find that belief you had earlier. They need us.

Thankyou Lazie. To expect to dominate every game is ridiculous and undermines the challenge our players and team face week in and week out. Agree about the sudden turning on our team and arrogance of entitlement many commenters are displaying. I am disappointed too as I want my team to do well, but I will support them and wish others did the same rather than dump on them with such venom.

That's what happens when you play from behind

And when the opposition are experts in ducking and dropping the knees.

We're going to run over the top of them in the second half.

We have the second best ruckman in the league to cover for us until Max gets back on the park.

We got this

It’s a strain and he will be back. Just doesn’t look an ACL. I should know I am a Lawyer and I am watching on TV.

Seriously fingers crossed it’s just a few weeks.

We are really missing Kossie.

Ball handling is as bad as I’ve seen. Get that right and we are in it.

Given the smashing in clearances we’re doing alright scoreboard wise.

Start winning the clearances and find a way to lock it in our F50 and we win.

We will know one way or another if we have this kind of belief.

I thought I could smell something familiar about this game.

I was indeed one of the 3,772 people who had the pleasure of watching of overrun Brisbane nine goals to three in the second half back in 2021. At Homesbush of all places.

Honestly, except for about ten minutes late in the first quarter where we were clearly rattled by the loss of Gawn, and Grundy in particular had visible fog coming out his ears, we've been able to keep it even despite a number of our better players being awkardly off their game.

Dogs kicked 6 goals in the second quarter in Round 1 last year.

Dogs kicked 7 goals in the second quarter of the Grand Final.

Geelong kicked 8 goals in the second quarter of Round 23 2021.

We won all of those games.

outstanding player and leader, no question, but if we're that reliant on one man we're not as strong a team as i thought

I never really read the game day thread once the ball is bounced and now I know why.

Poor Maxy. The boys must have sensed something because they've been playing as if they're shellshocked. I know we're not out of this game based on the scoreboard but it still has the potential to get very ugly if we don't improve quickly.

I hope Grant Thomas chokes on the multiple donuts he’s clearly been eating recently. Gawn’s [censored] has seen more success than you ever will

Playing that [censored] song after Cameron kicks a goal is embarrassing.

Brisbane will never be relevant in the AFL.

Just wait...we'll come back

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
