that quarter couldnt have gone much worse. everyone needs to pull their collective fingers out otherwise we on a hiding here

We are not just Max Gawn. This is inexcusable. A poor showing from a team full of guns, supposedly pushing for a premiership.

I can’t recall a worse quarter from us since 2020.

6 goals conceded (the Dogs probably kicked 6 in a quarter in Round 1 last year but it would be rare). Something like 15-0 inside 50s in the last 10 minutes. And I reckon all 6 of their goals have been from stoppage. Brutalised in clearances 16-6, losing CPs to boot. Not to mention fumbly and resorting to long kicks with no obvious target.

Let’s hope it was a mulligan quarter.

I really hope a lot of people learned something today. You might want to be a pig-headed arrogant footy fan, you know? The type you despise so much in Geelong and Hawthorn fans. But this doesnt mean everyone else does. It's a two team sport and treating an opposition with caution is not a weakness.

The fact that I don’t even care about how pathetically our midfield is playing, tells you how crushed I am about Gawn. This season could well be over.

Boy that is a shock, we look very second rate, second to the ball everywhere, except Lever. Oliver, Tracc, Viney look pedestrian. WTF is going on? Grundy needs to step up this quarter!

It looks like a suspected medial injury for Max Gawn, given he has ice on the inside of his knee.

Not ideal, but certainly better than a potential ACL injury.

Hardly any wins in the center from our rucks.

All taps from Brissy at center bounces towards their goal and there's no defensive sweeper on that side for us.

Allowing Brissy players to get it out of the middle too easily.

Energy so far is right off.  Second to the ball.  Multiple Brissy players at the drop with Melb players trailing behind.

Not looking good at all in the middle in particular.

Silly tackle from Rivers on the first gamer!  Amature stuff.

Plenty of time to turn this around but not sure given the very ordinary start and flat feel from the armchair.

At least three obvious holding the ball / incorrect disposal decisions not given.  The ducking the head one wow!

Umps a joke for stopping play for Zorko

Surely a trainer on field for an uninjured player (if you can call zoeko that) is a fifty.
umps have been very poor so far - didn’t see a duck and paid high, then did see a duck but didn’t adjudicate the prior opportunity correctly, can’t do centre bounces straight up. Bailey tackled and just dropped it, Cameron tackled and bounced ball on ground.
But we are playing horrendous too which wouldn’t change the result of a very poor quarter.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
