If he doesn't play it must be due to either the injury or conditioning.

If it's either of those why would you subject him to an unnecessary 2 plus hours each way sitting on an aeroplane?

Exactly.

I agree with that, but perhaps he will be helping to coach the defence?

Joel Smith/Hibberd may be the surprise selection for Cameron?

Hibberd maybe.

Smith surely not, not after the 2021 QF when he was well beaten.

Also, if we're cautious on May (correctly), why wouldn't we also be cautious with Smith? Smith's never played more than four games in a row with all his injuries, he's been injured over summer, he hasn't had a full pre-season - why would we be rushing to play him in the 22, or as the sub, without getting miles in his legs first?

Thommo to stay as insurance for May, Fritsch to come in for Chandler, I would give Brayshaw a crack in the forward line as a replacement for Kozzie but we will see tonight.

Why Chandler ??? Weren't you happy with Kade? I thought he did well and again  could have kicked at least 2.  Probably Laurie but round have liked him to have another chance.

I’m really excited for tomorrow night. A chance to redeem ourselves for the SF loss last year and show we are in fact the much better team.
I hope the Lions bring the physicality and lift their intensity around contests and then whimper away when they realise it’s not enough to combat us.

We take a ‘Desert Storm’ approach to the game and blow them off the Gabba. 🔴🔵💪

So I assume May will be suiting up for Casey in that case?

On Tuesday Goodwin doubled down from the post game presser saying all four players (May, Salem, Fritta, Viney) will be available for selection at either MFC or Casey.

(on a serious note, if your mail is solid, then they obviously don’t want to risk May so early in the season.

If MAY is fit No way lnown GG e "suits up for Casey" if he is fit he plays, no ifs or buts

To be honest Titan I'm still questioning why we even gave him an extended 2 year deal at the end of last year.

I have no faith his body can hold up to the rigours of AFL.

It's a valid question.

His form at the start of last year was the best it's ever been, so he can certainly push for selection when fit. But with his history of injuries, it is hard to see when or how he'll be able to cement himself in the best 22.

Surely if Fritta made the flight he plays. If they wanted to get some conditioning into him he'd play for Casey this weekend.

May could be going as more of a backline leader / assistant coach, rather than to play, but with Fritta he is either in the side or he needs to gain fitness at Casey, no point flying him out if he's still in rehab.

His athletic ability would be such a weapon for our team but unfortunately we just barely see it due to injury.

Feel for him and fingers crossed he can get a good run at it.

FFS Daz, leave the kid alone. I’m sick of hearing this same comment from you. Once is understandable, but it must be half a dozen times now. The football department obviously see more in him than you do. And with no disrespect, I am placing my faith in them. I just hope Joel gets a good run at it this year and is able to prove himself. He won’t be lining up tomorrow night, but best wishes for the season Joel. Hope it’s your year to shine.

Maaate, ever since I got into Demonland (start of 2022) my wife thinks I’m an over the top fanatic, have problems and need counselling.

Compared to some (perhaps most) on this forum I am a mere amateur.

Thanks for the update.  I am going to lie to my wife and say you guys have a roster for when we play interstate for someone to go to the airport to see who is flying out. Why? Because I can then say to her that there are plenty more people that really need some counselling ahead of me.

Thanks again. GO DEES!!

Even when fully fit, it's not clear to me that he's an obvious best 22 player. i suspect the club likes his potential upside and ability to play multiple positions, but i'm with you, not sure i'd have given him 2 more.

If May is on the plane it can only be because they think he’ll play.  Maybe a fitness test to pass, but surely Plan A is that he is playing.  Same for Viney and Fritta.  Salem as assumed by many must be either taking another week or coming back through the VFL.

I love the fact that these days we actually care who is on the plane! 10 years ago we wouldn't have had any one on the plane to tell us who is on the plane!

He's 27 years old and isn't locked in the best 22 even if fit after 7 years. It's a major head scratcher why he's still on the list when he can't even get on the park by now.

Anyhoo I'm hoping we give May another week off to ensure his calf is 100%. Petty, Lever, Tomlinson are more than capable enough without him, and Gawn and others float back to help too. We need May cherry ripe for our assault on the flag later this year.

Maybe he is 100% this week hence why he could be playing. Maybe last week he was 95% so they didn't risk him.

Lads, I agree wholeheartedly.

I'm not adding any more fuel otherwise @Neil Crompton will eat me alive.

    BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury. LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die!
