Looks like if it’s any ducking at al that results over the shoulders contact it’s not a free.

Understand the need to prevent ducking, but sad to see it applied where it's legitimately just a player picking up a ground ball

Nervous defensively. Petty a little off. Doggies sharper around the ball. it’ll be a close game I reckon

Until it’s a Doggies player then there is a special clause in the rules of the game.

Standing m50 come visit!

We look more dynamic on the fast break but they are very good in close with those quick hands…be a close contest all night I reckon

Feels as if we gifted the dogs their goals. It doesn't look like they are doing much to keep it close.

If Harmes is tagging Bont it ain't working.

Grundy's hit outs are not really to advantage.

Max bog.

Kozzy dangerous.

Lever good.

Clarry, Langdon quiet.

Nice goal by Tommy Sparrow.

Pickett should have passed to Spargo in perfect position, but selfishly shot for goal and missed.    Also Riv could have kicked out to Spargs all alone, but kicked to a contest instead.

Clearances leveled up bit we managed to hold together down back. Just the 2 Dogs marks inside 50.

But harsh booing Baker

To be fair it felt a little more like crowd [censored] for tat after the boos Hunter was getting from the Dogs fans.

Free kick Bulldogs. Wtf.

Have seen a few bad ones in my time. That’s in the top 5!

Rivers seems to be lacking confidence in his short kicking, he'd rather kick a bomb every single time.

I think it’s going to be one of those rule adjustments with frustratingly unintended consequences…

Tell me again how May isn’t the glue that holds us together down back.
Also please put someone better on Bont.

 Gotta kneecap Naughton.

Harmes is woeful.

  • NON-MFC: Round 02

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Sunday’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

  • POSTGAME: St. Kilda

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
