I'd be pretty confident, another 6 days should slam dunk it.

As I’ve said before, his omission from any game is due in no part whatsoever to his personal quest to be back to 100%. This boy is hellbent on getting back out on the park. We’re all hugely disappointed that he’s not playing, but believe me, our disappointment is dwarfed by his.

Turner will be next in line surely.

Petty to FB, Turner CHB and Lever third man up.

Will Hibbo get a call up as he can play "taller" than he actually is?

Either way, nobody is May. It's like trying to replace Oliver. Can't be done.

I think Hibbo’s case over McVee is strengthened if it’s Turner. They won’t want to be so young and inexperienced down back.

If it’s Tommy Mc then McVee might still get the nod.

At least we've learnt our lesson. Don't burn your playing list in Round 1.

Right? This is what we all wanted. This will pay off in the long run.

Reading about the May injury has sent my MFCSS into psychosis.

A downpour on Saturday night would be welcomed right about now.

We should be so lucky, isn't it going to be 31 or something this Sat?

Nothing quite like the wheels falling off before round 1 has even started.

This is what being a Melbourne supporter should feel like!

Current forecast is predicting a dry southerly cool change coming through just before game time lowering the temp to mid to low 20s  We'll be watching that closely to help make our cheese choices for the game.

If May is out we’ll play Max behind the ball and Brodie in the ruck. Lot of talk about the tall dogs but 3 of them are JUH, Darcy and Lobb. I’ll back Max over them in the air any day.

Spot on. However, there needs to be careful selection of another tall. McDonald may have to swing back. We will need another presence up in the forward line. I'd back Schache in against his old mob. He can play both ends and has the VFL form to warrant selection

If May misses it can’t/won’t be Smith replacing him. He hasn’t had a full pre-season, and hasn’t he been training forward?

Tomlinson or Turner should be the replacement, they are key defenders and whilst neither holds a candle to May, the point of having key defenders as depth is to call on them when a first choice defender misses.

Will be a massive test to beat a fellow top 4 contender with May joining Viney, Fritsch and Salem on the sidelines. That’s a lot of talent out.

I have watched Tomlinson a fair bit at training and sadly he is not a patch on the player he was pre knee reco. I d say his confidence is Shot! So far of the pace its not funny. Cannot possibly play. Play T Mac back and bring in Shackey Attackey would be my call to play forward

May has “tightness” in his calf. Reported this morning by Sam Edmond.
his words “watch and see”

He hasn’t been ruled out yet.
3 days to go

I'd say if May doesn't get up they will go Turner as the replacement. Petty will take May's role and Turner will play in Petty's role.

Gawn to play more behind the ball as opposed to forward.

Turner to Darcy or hugle Hagen. Neither are super strong

Yep.

Remember that time May played with a 6cm tear in his hamstring.

Yes, but this different, this is an important game.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
