Fritsch isn’t the brute like Mackay, Lynch et al but by hell he’s our most prolific scorer and is quite simply ‘the man’ in our FF line.
We missed him for a chunk due to injury and it clearly impacted the team negatively.

Personally, I can’t see the massive difference a guy like Mackay or Lynch would make on top of another year into JVR and particularly if Petty will remain forward

Unless we haven’t decided that Petty is a permanent forward and will go back.

Apparently Tomlinson wants out, so we may need to send Petty back.

Wouldn't have thought so.

For us to even contemplate it Oliver would have to showing Hogan-like concerns.

Even then, we would need to get 2 x top 5 picks.

Twomey doesn't make stuff up so the only thing I would take out of this is clubs are asking.

Doesn’t he?

Is that so? Bloody Nora, our list will have some sort of turnover this year

When journos report on players who will leave the Dees, they're making it up; when it relates to incoming players, it's gospel.

The Oliver story is classic click bait.

’Clubs are weighing up whether to make a play…’ - so no club named, no details at all.

This is designed to get a huge players name out there and a photo attached to drive clicks. Don’t believe me? Go check out AFL.com right now. Front page - Clarry.

It was actually Riley Beveridge that said it. Twomey was beside him but I was only listening, not watching, so didn't see his reaction.

Ah, cheers for that. Was only listening as well.

I don't think so, could be wrong though.

Over the years I haven't noted him to make outlandish claims about player movements. Most of what he says is fairly accurate and I put that down to him having multiple sources throughout the AFL. Doesn't mean he doesnt get stuff wrong or things change along the way. He's not Kane Cornes or a Heraldsun reporter I'll put it that way.

but Dees have already said he is a required player and we'll hold him to final year of contract...

Personally I’d prefer to upgrade our running players than sell the farm for a key forward like McKay. I also think we should be drafting the next May. Don’t get me wrong if we can get McKay for 2 first round picks outside the top 10 I’m ok with that. But pick 5, give me someone more dynamic and game breaking.

Yeah righto...

And we are weighing up whether to make a play for Nick Daicos, the Bont and Walsh

You are correct. We would not even think about it if there wasn't any noise coming from any of these camps. So, if this is true, why would other clubs be considering it if they thought Clarrie was ungettable? They definitely believe he is, therefore there may be some truth to it.

I reckon Tomlinson is a 'required player' on the provision that we don't land a key forward (meaning we need to keep Petty fwd).

I'm sure if we landed a McKay or similar, Petty would go back to defence, and Tomlinson would be traded without a fuss

Yeah fair enough. Just seemed like a very confident statement about a bloke who spends considerable time discussing trade rumours for a living at this time of year!
I agree, he is not like Kane or Hagdorn. But he might be prone to repeating something from a source with an agenda.

Yeh, but if that were true, Goody would.  See Hogan and Watts.  Nowhere near as good a players but both were Bambi.

Goody doesn't mind shooting Bambi, and we got a flag as a result.

Maybe it’s just the AFL media circus getting instructions to go full loco this trade period with some of the most ridiculous and outlandish deals imaginable?

Have a look at their trade shows line up..

Just another level for the clowns.

The biggest clickbait story going around …Clarry.

And for Sam Edmund to state that his hamstring/injuries was all rubbish. Losing the little respect you had Sam…

The point about nowhere near as good as what is important. Clarry has never shown any signs of being lazy, unwilling to work hard on his game or fitness, or go hard on the field. Goody awarded him 4 B&Fs including in a premiership year.
I don’t think those 3 are on the same level in any way.

Well Clarries second half of the year was his poorest on record (in my opinion) and against a sensational last 4 years of great years. His return from injury and finals were underwhelming and I thought one of Goodwins tasks during the off season was to not only change the game plan or focus of our chaos ball attack, but to get Clarrie to buy in and get re-energised within the team. Not necessarily an easy thing to do.

Add to that Yze going, who the midfield team apparently loved and theres plenty of space for clubs and journos to see a chance of jamming a wedge into our fragile team ethos after straight set double exits. We can be guaranteed these sort of stories continuing to be shoved down our throat, just as sure as the feelgood stories will continue for the next 12 odd months about Collingwood. It will be MFC who will be held to account for Brayshaws concussion issues, not football hero Maynard.

Finally Oliver has yet to become an adult. He might be off-side.

These are big issues for us going forward and Kate Roffey through to Goodwin and Max and the whole playing list need to spend time and energy healing, re-focussing and uniting into a strong and driven club. We are in for a wild off season.

Whether it's an unfounded rumour or not, it's our response that will count.
