Kalani turned 16 on 5th May so he'll turn 18 in his draft year in 2 years (2025) and he'll go F/S and be a great addition to the Dees. I mean, this, but the Suns 1 Quote

This could just as easily be read as the player manager playing hardball on their clients salary demands. It is and continues to be a longshot but i wouldnt read much into these types of statements. Players managers will only feel obligated to comment if something is in the works. Otherwise why bother? Edited October 2, 2023 by Gawndy the Great 4 Quote

dazzledavey36 56,339 Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 Sam Edmund and Tom Morris just confirmed on Trade Radio that there is absolutely no substance to Melbourne potentially in the market for Ben King, Aaron Naughton or Oscar Allan. Edmund went on to explain that he was speaking to someone influential inside Melbourne and the focus will be blooding and giving the kids more opportunities at senior level. 9 8 Quote

His father ex demon ruckman Jeff remains a diehard demon too. Jeff’s pretty active on social media and has proudly shown a lot of his son Kalanis underage footballing career. Kalani is a mad demon. He rocks the demon gear and loves heading down to Vic to see the dees. There’s zero chance he becomes a sun. He’ll be a demon, just a matter of how much we’ll have to give up in points for father son drafting. 15 1 Quote

We have JVR a great prospect and Jefferson who is a complete unknown Aside from the injury prone Petty we have nothing up fwd 1 1 Quote

We already lost Bedford and now Jordon, both players the club wanted to keep, stemming from lack of opportunities as the club sought a second premiership with a relatively stable best 22. We need to get games into D Turner, Howes, Laurie, Woewodin otherwise we risk losing them. 2024 is the year we have a crack at a player in my view and we should have plenty of cap space to work with. 2 Quote

A reasonable assumption However, losing Brown, Melksham, Hibberd, Jordon, Harmes and bringing in draft picks you would imagine we have at least some money in the kitty. Not saying they are on big coin but they would be around double what kids would be on. And this is assuming long term contracts could be back ended 1 Quote

Would be hard to bring someone in on a big ticket when you have a team that has arguably performed pretty well. I could see it happening with a key fwd where most realise it is a desperate need. But it can easily upset the delicate balance of player salaries , expectations etc. Geelong have done a good job of managing it (and we know why...) 3 Quote
DubDee 26,675 Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 The next 3 years in our window (we will still be good after but no Gawn, May, Viney/Trac/Gus past their best) We need to throw the kitchen sink at anyone good. I heard from a source I know through a friend of my second cousin's brother in law (kidding but a distant unknown source) that we could be open to trading a high quality player to get a gun key fwd. hypothetically and not considering contract lengths as they mean little anyway - who would you trade for Larkey? 1 1 Quote

Nascent 9,345 Posted October 2, 2023 Author Posted October 2, 2023 (edited) List of OOC players next year possibly worth targeting. (According to footywire, has been incorrect in the past) Rucks Tim English (RFA) Sean Darcy (RFA) Ned Moyle Key forwards Ben King Aaron Naughton Todd Marshall JUH Jesse Hogan (lol) Logan McDonald Aaron Cadman Key Defenders Tom Stewart (RFA) Jack Henry (RFA) Mids Zac Butters Hugh McCluggage (RFA) Max Holmes Tarryn Thomas Oliver Florant (RFA) Highly unlikely but you would ask the question Connor Rozee Errol Guldon Edited October 2, 2023 by Nascent 1 2 Quote
brendan 3,458 Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 We don’t need a key forward, we need more class to deliver inside 50 unless something good comes along during trade week I would be moving up the draft and take a couple of kids with good skills 7 Quote

Reason why? I think there'll be an element of truth where we'll go incredibly hard after Zak Butters next year 6 Quote
