21 points up.

This is where we choked last year

Is that you Dad you bloody Jinx

So far we have seen Gawn and Grundy sharing ruck duties.

Oliver, Viney, Pickett, Harmes, Sparrow and Petracca have all rotated at centre bounce.

Petracca is impressive.

Hunter is a great addition. Owning that wing spot that we have struggled to fill for years now.

Dominating play but hitting up leading forwards is still very poor.

Can’t see anything at ground level. Can’t wait for nosebleed seats at the G with a balmy 2 degree southerly in my face.

Look to have a few turnovers this quarter and no signs of the quick play on through the corridor that we were hoping for.

Kyah, Sestan, Taj, Jeffo, AMW and I think Howes, Deak, K Turner, Trent B and Tommo out kick to kick

edit and Laurie

I have have seen enough to ink Hunter for round 1 and pencil McVee for round 1 as well. Whilst they have both had their moments I really dont like a forwardline with both TMac and Brown and we do still scream for a crumber at the spill when Koz not there. Our clear want to move forward with short quick kicks and also our spinning of more players through the midfield are positives. Granted neither Harmes or Sparrow have really made the most of the time.

Thanks that works...  i have a digital (Kayo) membership but no idea how to activate the Kayo bit to watch this.  Apparently its not a freebie as advertised?

Anyone?

I didn’t get the email from Kayo to activate the voucher. I assume you didn’t either. I had to ring the membership and they fwd to me.

I’m going to give benefit of the doubt and put it down to the unpredictable conditions. Our ball movement has been pretty good.

We’re dominating play and are not getting a fair run from the umps.

They’ve missed some howlers and given them some really soft ones that haven’t been reciprocated at the other end.

View from the top of the stand is excellent if you can find room

Goalkickers for those interested

2 to Petracca. Singles to Brown, Hunter, Pickett, Chandler, ANB, TMac

Just getting the early rust out of the system.

If we can still clean up our forward 50 entries then we'll be fine this year.

Found my email in SPAM

Not sure about Spargo’s headband. Looks like Phil Lesh from The Grateful Dead.

Redtime goals FOR is a nice change

Kayo extended highlights during the breaks are bloody annoying. Put a commercial on FFS.

Was just thinking that

I’m really looking forward to seeing JVR. Surely old knee Brown and old foot McDonald are done.

Compression bandage on J Adams knee. Walking around just fine on the ground.

More Casey guys so 18 warming up for the next game so far. Haven’t seen Verrell or Schache.

Have to think JVR and Jj get a run soon in the main stuff

Jake L and his balsa wood ankles look to be a problem again

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
