Loved hearing and chanting that on  game day.

Could be i'm losing my hearing slowly but appears to have dropped away as a chant of late for some reason.

On the contrary! We have a young guy in the DA who leads that chant every time Kozzy kicks a goal. Everyone in our bay joins in. This kid idolises Kozzy and always has, so this morning I messaged him asking if his vocal cords are primed for another four years. He kept it cool just replying “Yep” but I know he’s probs still cartwheeling around his house. 😂

Yeah. He does the “KOZZY KOZZY KOZZY bit and we do the “OI OI OI” bit. It’s his thing. Nobody would ever take that away from him. He’s so proud to lead it. This weekend it will be extra special. 🥰

edit: after last year’s Alice match, poor fellah couldn’t speak for a couple of days. 😂

I wasn’t on DL at the time but I’m pretty sure the Jack Watts thread wouldn’t have had a happy ending.

I think you’ll find that getting Fritta with the pick we got from Watts has made it indeed a very happy ending.

Seriously, Tim Lamb should get an OBE for his services to MFC list management.

Yep, seems on reflection, he was behind alot of the drafting moves that we often gave Josh credit for

When Jeff Farmer left the Dees it honestly felt like someone had gutted me. He was the teams excitement machine, a key reason to attend the football, the wizard.  I was dreading something similar with Kozzy. How could we possibly lose another player who was so exciting with that air of magic and anticipation?

His signing goes a long way to filling that hole. I can’t wait to see what he produces over the next four plus years ahead. Thanks Kozzy.

Or maybe it is the name Chindler?  (Mispronounced by a New Zealander)

The Tom Scully thread still holds the record.

How dare you mention that name on a happy thread.  How dare you.  😠

Jackson on the other hand kept us in limbo, underperformed in the process

I don't buy this.

I've seen it posted a lot.

If he underperformed last year because he knew he was out then there would have been a major bump in his performance this year.

There hasn't been.

If anything his game has dropped off this year.

Love Kozzie, love he's re-signed. I love watching our Indigenous players, all of them, from any team. Some of what I see is magic.

By the way, does anyone know how Neville Jetta is travelling with the E Coli Wobblers? I would have loved for him to stay with us in some capacity.

Doesn’t help that he’s playing for a dumpster fire of a team in the wrong position tho.
Was not the case last year.

No surprise ....

He told me at the Family Day that he was staying at the Dees. And I posted that information in this thread.

"After almost 22 years, Pickett has spent less than 1% of his life sure that he will re-sign with the Demons."

"After almost 9 months pre-natal, Pickett has begun being born in only the last 24 hours."

Meanwhile, if the relief of the decision being made produced a 3 goal & 3 goal assist game, we need to consider the possible AA competition for relaxed and comfortable Pickett in the 'actual small forward' role;

Papley, Green, C Cameron, Rankine, Higgins, and... Chandler!

I'm rapt that Kozzie has committed to Melbourne for another 4 years. Onya Kozzie!

Incredibly exciting news to wake up to today. Our club is a place with incredible talent that doesn’t want to leave. I’m stoked. Thanks Kozzie, you’re an absolute superstar.

It survived on the night of the 25th of September 2021, I think it’d survive anything! Which is great since it may cop a hiding come the 30th of September this year!!!!

Nice one.

You may be closer to the truth than it might seem.

I reckon lessons from last year have been learned and the team will motor along nicely , some losses being inevitable, but commentators around mid- late August will be remarking about the Dees being the team you don't want to meet in Week 1 of the finals.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
