The Perth Demons story is very similar to the Melbourne Demons.  A once powerful club, that completely lost its way and has continue to do so since the mid 70s.

This is either going to go completely pear shaped or make the club half relevant again.

The club has always found a way to lose its way.  There board looks to be very strong now, a few ex players, would be worried about CEO though

Good luck to him in his rehabilitation but those Perth Demons are something else. Their colours are red and black, not red and blue.

Yep .... I'd wouldn't want him hangin' with the players after hrs.

Yes he is going to have to be very disciplined, and stay that way, if he is going to have a long career.

Perth was a powerhouse in the 70s, but since they lost the potential-three-peat 1978 grand final in a major upset (in pouring rain, despite Bosustow starring for the Demons, and with Perth favourite son Barry Cable captain-coaching East Perth) they have been the league's underachiever.

What can I say - Demonland is prety predictable and easy to troll, but it's still good fun and I couldn't resist.

Merry Christmas all 😊.

Westside is Bestside, or so says the graffiti on the wall of a tunnel near mine. Clearly graffitied by an Eastern suburbs graffitist.

I’m ok, Tim. (Thank you for asking 💕) Three weeks ago a fox got into my backyard and killed our beloved chooks. Every one of them, gone.

They say time heals all wounds, and who am I to argue? Only it seems time is taking the long way around, sometimes even standing still, or so it seems.

Thank you, Daisy. Absolutely heartbroken and still grieving. But I’ll bounce back. I always do. The whole healing thing is just taking its sweet time, is all.

I did wonder...

Maybe a new brood, in due course, will help the healing gently along?

'Landers all, I'm struck by the personal stories that surface here and, most particularly, by the preparedness of the storytellers to be vulnerable to strangers (though maybe we're not strangers here, so much?) Though one story might seem less, or more, momentous than another to we readers, we respect (I hope) that it is the teller's experience that sets the moment.

Defs not strangers. Demonland is like family to me. Dysfunctional, contradictory, nit-picky, loud and annoying. You know, just like any other family. 🙃

And yes, Tim. Planning on getting a new clutch of baby girls sooner rather than later. Just gotta implement fox-proof measures. I thought having them sleep in the house every night was enough but sadly someone forgot to tell this particular fox he’s nocturnal. I’m thinking with the next hatchlings I may have to keep them in the house 24/7. Then I really will be crazy chook lady. 😁 JK I’d let them out daily for 30 minutes under strict supervision, and in bespoke little suits of armour (stop laughing!).

Just so as not to stray too far from the subject at the heart of this site, that being the mighty Dees, three of my chooks were aptly named:  Febes 1, Febes 2 and JH (Hunty up until he left, then Harmesy 😊). With the next lot my son has gifted me naming rights for all. Watch this space. ❤️💙

Lots to love there 😊

Now cue divergence of thread to clever Dees names for chookies...😉

Thank you so much, Jules. 💕

Re names, my non-footy-loving son said how about NOT ALL Demons-related names? How about at least one non-Demons name? I said sure, I actually have one in mind. I told him the name. He said “Maisie, yeah I like that name!”
I’ll let him believe it’s Maisie until he ever sees it written and discovers it’s Maysie. 😁

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
