I saw Zig & Zag doing drug humour at a Stoned Again show at the (was it?) Astor Theatre in Prahran in the late 70’s.

Good grief.

I can’t recall such depth on our list before.

Once again a credit to JT and Tim Lamb.

I thought this was a topic about MFC training not a walk down memory lane.

Just goes to show how wrong you can be!

What was that show called?

pick a box (bob and dolly dyer) was the main one. think there were some others too where they competed

and we can go back earlier to radio where jack davey ruled the roost but he never transitioned successfully to tv

A grammatically challenged yoda question, as in, may be there?

Or, a command, as in, May, be there!

But back to the training thread. Have the houses started tumbling yet?

Big years for Laurie, Chandler, Deakyn Smith and J. Smith.

i knew barry jones when he first started on the quizs and i was a teenager (maybe even pre teenager icrp)_

Not to forget Uncle Norman

One of my mates barracked for Richmond and kept yelping how good a footballer Fred Swift was, enough to drive you mad. GTV Channel 9 was in Richmond, so secretly, I never watched Uncle Norman. It would have been like going to watch the Filth at their own ground amongst the toothless infidels - early prejudices were the 'go' back then and many of these shaped life and times for sheltered individuals, like children. For me,  there was nothing like watching Brian Dixon or Ronald Dale - who appeared on World of Sport (Channel 7) so often - and with that perceived loyalty, Happy Hammond won the day until the footy replay and Footy Inquest were scheduled.

Ron and Gerry Gee appeared at the ‘Reefer Cabaret’  in the old blind institute Ormond Hall in Prahran mid-70’s. A very risqué R rated performance. Blew the socks right off of the earlier strictly PG rated Tarax Show material. The audience were reportedly ‘rollin’ in the aisles’.

I think Ormond Hall is where I’m thinking of for the Stoned Again shows… it was on the corner of Dandenong Rd at the top of Chapel St?

He used to buy Mahler and Bruckner records from me when I managed the classical section of John Clements, after the Vulgar Bulgar defected to Discurio.

Off St Kilda Rd in Moubray St tucked in behind Wesley. Still extant, refurbished relatively recently for wedding receptions.

He was a Teacher. Used to stand on the tram reading a book all the time. Had a photographic memory. Became ALP President at one stage.

Still no May 😬😬😬

We wouldn’t expect to see May until after midnight April 30 surely.

Anyone know when the next training session is held at Gosch's?

And did Barry Jones give the correct answer on Bob Dyer's 'Pick a Box' when he said that Earl Mountbattin was the Viceroy of India as at 1947?

Since there are so many certified oldsters, in this particular thread, I wonder if anyone else would like to comment on my long-held belief that Clayton Oliver is very similar to Ron Barassi. I see it in his relentlessness, his determination, and also in things like his kicking style. Some of you are obviously older than me. I remember Barassi, but I was very young. Those who remember him well: do you agree?

Great to be back discussing footy.
There are certainly similarities in the way they go about their games between RDB and Clarrie, but in physique I see more of CP5.

I would appreciate if anyone knows the answer to this question. I am prepared to confirm if May is there as payment ðŸ˜œ

It was a jazz dance back in the day, I think it was called Opus.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
