The Herald Sun have just revealed when Grundy and the Dees will play Collingwood, but it's behind a paywall.

Would find it amusing if you signed up and paid to see the article only for the Herald Sun to announce it's the Kings Birthday.

My first thoughts exactly.

Funny you mentioned that.

The article says it will be Round 13  with King's Birthday  game on Monday June 12.

(No, I didn't sign up to pay for that info!)

Dont be too cynical, they might come up with more groundbreaking news like Collingwood might play Essendon on Anzac Day :)

Does the article say that we will play them again in the last few rounds?

Happy just to play them once next year excluding finals.

Losing to them twice in the one year was soul destroying in front of 50K filth each time. I find Pies supporters as a collective to be far too much to handle when they're up and about. Kind of felt like they willed their team over the line in our round 21 game.

Yup was a zoo in the Afl both games.

But a good part of our profit is because 50000 Collingwood paid for tickets at our home game.

Also think they just as likely to be a poor team next season so playing them twice won't be too bad.

Can already see our double ups coming against low drawing Vic teams and interstate teams. Some [censored] like Freo, Port, WB, geelong, Brisbane and Sydney

Can't get behind the paywall but just saw this on HS website:

Good Friday club dumped for Vic powerhouse

"The AFL will thrust one of the biggest clubs in the league into the Good Friday limelight in a bid to add some extra spice to the annual public holiday game".

Any guesses?

My guess is Essendon for North/Saints.

Just doesn't seem fair whoever it is being dumped.

Spoiler Alert 🚨: It’s Carlton

I was wrong on both clubs.

Really glad North are still in it.  They lost the Friday nights they pioneered decades ago and it would be inappropriate for them to lose GF now.  They need the leg up.  As for Carlton.  Just as bad as Ess getting the GF gig!

Kardinia Park unavailable first half of the season

I think it is Available but geelong don't want to play there until the stands completed, more money more money, that is what fixture is all about.

God forbid we'd have a season where we didn't have to travel to bloody Geelong!

We didn't have to travel there in 2017 - only because their stands were being re-developed.

Oh and in 2020 the AFL were nice enough not to schedule us there (in the revised lock down fixture where nobody could attend the MCG!)

all these contrived blockbuster clashes got me thinking

how about this?

  • "The Filth Cup"                      Colliwobbles vs Whorethorn
  • "The Scum Cup"                   Essenscum vs Carlscum
  • "The Gentlemen's Cup"       Melbourne vs Geelong"
  • "The Mariner's Cup"            Port Adelaide vs Flogmantle
  • "The Ex-Pat's Cup"              Sydney vs Brisvegas
  • "The Non-Entities Cup"       GWS vs Gold Coast
  • "The Over-There Cup"         Radelaide vs Meth Coke
  • "The Working Man's Cup"  Footscray vs Norf Melbourne
  • "The Feral's Cup"                Richmond vs St.Kilda

make your suggestions

Hi LH. I think I read earlier in this thread that it’s Adelaide v Carlton, Port v Dogs and one other I can’t quite remember.

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
