I enjoy this thread, but it makes me a bit uncomfortable reminding me a bit of the days when we pinned our hopes on an early draft pick messiah.

That is not the vibe I get.
It’s about getting maximum return for a player we spent pick 3 on and also laughing at Freo after they tried to screw us.

We could actually win the whole bloody thing this year, while Taylor sets us up for the next decade with picks 4, 18 and 22. Get excited Sue.

oh I am.  Just this nagging feeling about over reliance on hanging out for picks in the past. Not relevant now.

I hope the swans win today but I have this terrible premonition that Freo may win.

I like this thread because i get to laugh and cheer on another clubs' misfortune. A misfortune that we get to benefit from. It's great fun. Petty and mean-spirited fun for sure but great fun, nonetheless.

I know I'm being extremely pedantic but in fact there will be 19 spots between the draft picks we get from Fremantle assuming North finish below Fremantle (a pretty safe assumption). This Special assistance pick comes in just below North's 2nd Round pick (which they traded to Adelaide). Ironically this extra pick was traded to Fremantle.

So, based on Fremantle finishing 14th (where they are now) and Melbourne being Premiers, Melbourne's picks will be 5, 18, 24, 37, 91. Who knows how many father/son and academy selections push the higher picks down and pick 91 up? (not that we're likely to use our 5th round pick). I'm hoping we pick up Kynan Brown as a father/son. Not sure how high he will go.

Go Swannies (for this week at least!).

Tom McCartin out. No McCartins, Reid or Rampe.

Tough ask. Here’s hoping.

Swans 18 to Dockers 7, 25mins into first.

19 to 7 at 1/4 time.

Neither of these teams will play finals thats for sure.

Freo getting more of the pill but their ball movement is so predicable. Swans not very inspiring either.

Swans very poor. The mids are getting taken to the cleaners and they can't move the ball.

Freo much the better team. They should win but they are always liable to shoot themselves in the foot so you never know.

45 to 32 in favour of Freo at the half.

Tom McCartin pulls out, Mills off early 1st quarter and Sydney seem to have stopped.

Hopefully big Swans second half.

Posted

17 free to Freeo in the first half

5 fifty metre penalties given

quality umpiring!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
