Yes different era, but I suspect he would be successful today. No not as a 56yo, in his prime.

Providing he’s gotten over his back issues, I reckon Jackovich could solve our forward line issues.

I luv Jeffo

Anyone selling his stock send several million shares of the NASJEF straight to me

Your point?

Did I draw any connection with era?

My statement stands alone. Don't you think it interesting that a key position forward was drafted at 22yo , played most of his first season as a 23yo and was instantly successful?

Well yeah, you've brought it up in discussion based around a young key forwards development.

Back in that era it was a completely different game compared to what it is now.

Full forwards literally did not move from the goal square. Now days it's all about zones and pushing higher up the ground and then getting back on your bike on the rebound.

Footy was fun to watch back then, but I also don't mind some of the content now.

I don’t understand the passion (and page volume) in the Jeffo debate.

He might work, he might not.

Either way he won’t be the difference between us being great and us being [censored]. He’s not Wayne Carey, I think we’ve seen enough to be confident of that.

he is playing round 1 so we don’t have too long to see him at AFL level

Round 1 of the practice match series at least. Let’s see how he goes against North

What a curious comment. None of our forwards are Wayne Carey at this stage!!!
But you are wrong in saying Jeffo won’t make any difference in our forward line bring great or not so good.
But what he brings to the table are forward finishing skills that help our goal kicking and team play in ground pick ups and handballs to assist.

He is a different cat to all our others except taller and slightly more physical than Fritta. Height and marking and straight goal kicking  also are the package.

Like Fritta 6/8 possessions with 2/3 goals and 2/3 assists will keep the opposing defences honest.

Improvement from Disco JVR and Billing’s and the new boys Harvey and Lindsay are other pluses to our scoring potential.

Trac is liking among this group waiting to score big time.

No not great yet but by September who knows how good we might be.

Different era

Jacko had a chunky man’s body from Dsy 1 so as a comparison was successful immediately. Not sure of his prior footy but bet it was against Men rather than under age.

He had do

m as my skills also you couldn’t teach. Looking at Jeffo it’s not his footy skills that are lacking it’s getting the ball to be able to use them.

Mow that he has started maturing in physique and moving around the forward line he will through instinct ( still the best way forward can get the ball ) think Fritta Kossie Cyril all so great to watch.

Its gong yo be very interesting our forward setup but one good thing is all our magnets on  the board capable of playing in front of goals are so different that we should be able to mix and match very capably yo confuse the opposition.

A chink is a narrow opening; or a horrible ethnic slur - I hope that’s not what you meant.

I’d say it’s because he was a first rounder, and the fascination behind getting picked that high.

I doubt Aidan Johnson, who was picked up in the late 60’s/early 70’s will get anything near 1000 posts around here.

He’s done well to stay on the list so long.

I hope this is tongue in cheek, Comment??

Let’s hope that he keeps his spot once selected and that petty can remain in defence

Yep, didn't get a lot of it but 2 great goals in a losing side in the wet, plus some fierce tackling, chasing and goal assists, = a very good debut, looking forward to seeing what he brings at the airless, windless, souless shizzen stadium this week!!😂😎

Loved that chase on Himmelberg in the third quarter. Definitely affected the kick.

Solid debut.

Based on highlights and the AFL’s generosity in allowing me access to only the mini-match post game. Matthew Jefferson didn’t let himself down or the team.

Recall some blokes who went on to terrific careers whose debuts were less impactful and not as self assured as JEFFO was last Sunday. Augurs well for the future.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
