sparrow was prioritised over jordon (neither here nor there imo - both average at best)

JJ’s the reigning third place-getter in the Swans B&F. Going very nicely and valued in a good side, and a great cultural influence.

He is - and well done, young fella!

Good on him. Plays his strengths and once in a while gets a magic moment which you just know he'll appreciate cheerfully.

Yes, Cranky's crazy comment is a shame because it causes us to criticise Oskar in order to refute CF. The comment was absurd but as others have said, he always seemed like a really good bloke and a trier and I too am happy for him.

My goodness. The bloke is rubbish. One of the softest players I've seen.

Good on him for finding his role but we're kidding ourselves if we think that he was the answer to our problems.

This site has a tendency to grossly overrate players once they leave our club.

The problem was overall list management from 2020 to 2024.

To let Baker, Jordon, Hunt & Bedford go while recruitining, Dunstan, Schache, Fullerton, Grundy, McAdam, Billings & Hunter is a major reason for our decline.

Interesting judgement.

My obsessive Footscray supporting mate said of him "love him, a tough nut, a great team man, speedy & versatile"

Golly. Surely there’s room for a bit of nuance in between ā€œhe’s rubbishā€ and whatever hyperbole we’re using to describe his greatness.

He’s clearly a player who has had to work his butt off just to get to best 22 level. Good on him for having the game of his career and kicking such a crucial goal to cap it off.

Was a nice goal. He looks like an extra on a porn movie from the 70’s / 80’s ……. Apparently

Yeah, um, one of my mates told me that too

Lucky he kicked 3 goals as he only got 8 disposals.

Perhaps he is just one of those players who needs the shock of being moved on to bring out his best.

I always like to see Oskar do well, but if he is in your team, you’re not winning a flag. Seems like a ripping bloke though.

Unless you have Bont, Richards, Darcy, Libba, Freiher, etc etc doing the winning part for you.

@Cranky Franky is right on the list management of the time. I would argue that the recruiting decisions didn't happen in isolation — they were symptoms. In hindsight, these were disastrous decisions, but what many of us did not fully appreciate at the time was the toxic infestation from board level through executive management to the coach and players. Bad culture produces bad judgement. You don't let Baker and Jordon walk and bring in Schache, Hunter et. al. in a healthy organisation. You just don't. The list is the bruise. The board is where the injury happened. Thank you Green and Smith for cleaning the joint out.

Was always someone who put in the work but didn't have the same level of natural talent or a physical advantage such as speed, height etc that elite or or grade players have.

He would be classed as a good honest footballer who is contributing to his team and has gradually improved over the years. He deserves his success as you ca tell he's earned it with constant work. Wouldn't make a difference at the Dee's with our previous or current squad. Wish him to continue with this level effort and success except against us.

I thought speed was the one thing he always had!!

#Jordonmyths

We wanted Jordon to stay and offered him a contract. He opted to use his free agency status to leave us.

Baker is a foot soldier who had shown very little in his 15 games and whose delisting wasn't lamented by a single poster at the time.

It is also true that the players we traded in were of little to no value to our team.

You are also mythmaking Mr Stone.

Its true that we offered Bedford & Jordon contracts but both were treated indifferently by Goodwin, both were used to plug gaps & copped time after time as subs instead of getting opportunities to settle in a role.

Well I lamented Baker's departure very loudly & ironically we lost our 3 quickest players (Kosi aside) Baker, Hunt & Bedford in the same year.

So, not a myth then. Hoist by your own petard there, CF.

Can you point me to the post/s you made about this? Didn't think so.

As others have pointed out the Dog look kinda like a potential premiership winning team at the moment and he's in that team, so I wouldn't be writing him off.

Some players mature late and he's clearly found his fit and an enviroment where he's thriving so good on him.

Not every player in a premiership is an absolute star and every premiership team needs players that do the team thing and sacrifice their game for the benifit of the team.

You are the mythmaker Demonstone by stating selective facts & not providing context.

Low-ball contract offer and not particularly valued, apparently.
