Agree, but he could be the catalyst for Kozzie signing on long term for us and that would be exciting. If Toby leaves he could be the replacement and that is exciting, but less so of course. He could add an extra  bit of pace and goal scoring to our game and that is somewhat exciting.

You sound like you're about to burst, Red!!

No, just trying to add some excitement to your day, on a rumour that may or may not eventuate.

TBH I haven’t seen much of Henry, but just looking at what he might add to our situation.

Kane Cornes originally mentioned it and even said it was based off nothing. Then a few others in the media mentioned it as a rumor. Then Kane jumps up and down saying it's a rumour and Kozzy is likely leaving.

All relevant parties - Melbourne, Kizzy's manager, Port Adelaide GM - have now shot this down. Jog on Kane you twerp!

Now we just need to sign Kozzy up long term. Out of contract next year and he's one we can't afford to lose IMO.

The Kozzie rumour has as much credence as the Naughton rumour on Demonland. Both are a figment of someone's imagination.

Difference being the naughton rumour was started in jest whereas Kane Cornes was being malicious.
Not right for him to start a groundless rumour like than given his media profile and port affiliation. Trying to unsettle a player like this is BS. Fair play to the port GM for shooting it down.

If you believe the Port GM.

Have to feel sorry for Kane, everywhere from the Footy Show to Port is where he is being made fun of.Then again the Footy Show is so not funny that guests ie Wiilliams cannot understand the deadpan purported humour.

Think it's done for next year..

If I ever watch that show I always fast forward the guest interviews, they are just too painful.

People suggesting that there’s nothing in this other than Kane Cornes talking Bull are missing the the fact that Kossie knocked back our offer of a new contract offer this year.
He’s had two great seasons so I can’t see anyway that we would be offering him unders. If he’s not signed by start of season I have a bad feeling that he will follow Jackson out the door.
Really hope I’m wrong as I think he would be a much bigger loss overall than Jackson.

It's not being mentioned but yes I would be concerned if he started the season in his last year.

Seriously?  That has certainly gone under the radar!

Something you've heard or read about his contract?

Do you have any proof that he knocked back our offer?

I would say our priority this season was Jackson and Oliver. We will now work hard to sign up the rest of the guys coming out of contract soon who we want to keep.

Heard it on trade radio yesterday. Think it was Cal that said it. They said that Kossie is going nowhere this trade window but backed what Kane has been saying that Port are definitely into him even though there list manager said they are not.
Loves the club but not the city.

No proof Jaded other than it was said on trade radio yesterday. I would be surprised though that given what we have gone through this year with Jackson if we would let Kossie go this long without offering him a new contract.

Thanks for reply.

Cornes has been pushing the Port barrow for a while.

I wonder if a reference to 'not signing a contract this year' is a bit of embellishment to spice up trade week.  Those guys on trade radio are not covering themselves with glory this week let alone credibility.

If there was some truth to it I would think it would have been out there by now and other clubs would join the hunt.

With only 1 year left on his contract the offers for Kossie (via his manager) would be there.  Stands to reason.  And it might be more than 1 offer

That doesn't mean that Kossie has any inclination to leave but the reality is that he only has 1 year left on his contract so the vultures will circle

I'd be surprised if the our club hasn't at least offered a 1 or 2 year extension as he is obviously a required player.  We're not talking about a fringe player

All clubs are always on the lookout for available talent.  For instance, we made a play for Cerra but by all reports, we didn't have the trade value to acquire the player

And what did Paul Roos say about about a required player only having 1 year left on a contract?

That was for FA's where a club can get a better deal trading them out a year early than getting a lesser AFL compensation pick when an FA.

They reported that he’s going nowhere this trade window but that it’s a watch for this time 12 months as Port are definitely into him, he knocked back our contract offer and doesn’t like Melbourne as a city.
So it’s probably a bit early for other clubs to be in the hunt.
Really hope it’s not the case as he’s probably my favourite player after Max. Perhaps after the trade period we will be in a better position to improve our offer to him and get him to sign. I saw on one of the previous post that he is in a relationship with a girl who has strong family ties in Melbourne.
I listened to most of the trade radio this week and your right most of them on there are not gaining much credibility so I hope they have their info wrong with regards Kossie.
