Carrying Brown, Baker and others on the list was a waste of list spots. And Munro, White, Dunstan and Grey playing most of the midfield minutes is someone’s decision.

Its hard work watching Melbourne young players stuck in peripheral roles.

Take those players out of the team, and Casey probably don't win 20 games for the season and a premiership. Surely, team success is invaluable for player development?

They finally gave Weid a job of holding the number 1 ruck spot and he has developed more in 4 weeks than in the last 4 years.

Casey have just won a flag and you're  complaining 🤭

Lots of great young talented kids coming through.

Wrong thread.

Good for Casey, but for the sake of Melbourne we can’t carry so many experienced fringe players and VFL players chewing up important minutes.

Casey’s first priority is to develop afl players and that needs to be reinforced next year.

Remember when people complained because we didn’t have a winning culture?

Congratulations Casey, super effort on the 2022 VFL flag, keep building this culture within the club.

I hope we never see JVR in the VFL again, he’s pure class.

With Jackson now Gawn, Weideman could have a chance as a permanent second ruck.

I like this a lot because Weed would kick goals as a resting ruck in the forward line

Really good win.

You have to wonder what's some people need to be happy.

I just can't see Weid at AFL level, if Grundy is recruited to the club no chance.

Take this [censored] somewhere else.

Had disagreements with you in the past

dazzel but couldn’t agree more

Flags are always very special at any level

And we would avoid the huge risk that Grundy is.

I'd rather use all the money to go all in for Harry McKay.

Was the trophy shiny enough?

This is the 700k question

Pity he hasn't had long in the role.

Needs to assert himself around the ground

I think he did amazingly well. Hopefully goody just does this and saves us 400k a year for a decent forward. In 4 months he has effectively taken up full time rucking duties and has done amazingly well

The players really love Weideman. Maybe they’re just happy for him.

So nice to see all the senior guys there. I reckon the ones missing are all going to the Brownlow tonight (Trac, Clarry, Gus and May).
Gawn doesn’t have to do his hair so he can squeeze in both.

May was there at the start I saw him drive into the car park.

Brilliant win - great job all year long Casey Demons!

He was good in this role this year, got him involved in the game.

Not to mention that Mitch Brown provides excellent protection and education for someone like JVR.

Would he though?

Is there anyone who thinks winning a premiership is a bad thing?

There will be someone!

A few Southport supporters on Facebook going off that we stacked the team with AFL players and cheated haha

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.
