Go those um Demons what.

This morning’s news makes me flat and (almost) disinterested.  It just doesn’t feel like Gameday.
I need a spark.  I hope the Dees can ignite it with a thumping win!

This is where dynasties start. It is bloody hard to go back to back that's why even the Cats have never done it. Remember the hawks when they lost and had to go to Perth and beat WC? Sometimes you have to do it the hard way. We are carrying injuries but we can do it.  Win 3 games. we have the stars that can stand up and make it happen

Cmon you DEMONS!

Hoping the battle hardened way will prevail over the easy way. I know we’re carrying injuries but I live in hope.

Not thinking ahead too much but by the time prelim day hits Geelong will have played 1 game in a month and 1 competitive game in 6 weeks.

Let's be honest if those players who had stinkers against the Swans play well tonight we will murder the lions.

The Lions will be fired up for this one, after the embarrassment of the past few years. And they will come out hard but I expect them to play the ball more than the man this time

Demons by 9 points in a cracker

Gawn BOG

They have dropped two snipers.

Easy to forget and I know it was a warped season but in 2020 both Grand finalists finished top 4 and went the hard way.

Interesting point

Yeah I've heard people swear by it. With anything you probably get a few extra emails from numpties but that's no biggie. I used to sell a bit on Ebay but find it a lot harder now, seems like more of an Amazon/Kogan/Catch business these days.

Right, getting on board by emptying out the cupboards!

A doctor did tell me I have two healthy kidneys at the end of last year too... 🤑

I can almost hear the sweet sound of old man hamstrings popping in the first quarter of the prelim

Hope the coach gives Kozzy the occasional short run on the ball (particularly the occasional centre bounce) to get him up and about.

We'll win. The Lions are total bottle jobs and will fold again tonight

Performance wise we need to lift. Get some sharpness and rhythm back into our game. No more fumbling

Forward pressure please. If i see the ball rebounding out of our forward 50 i'll lose my [censored]

ANB to find some kind of form. HE has not been good recently. Salem likewise. We need his accurate disposal off half back if we're to win a prelim or granny

I hope Trac's guardian angel let's nothing further happen to his injured leg

Need some real momentum before we take on the cats. That'll be a tough ask playing as we are

Come on Dees. Produce your best in a final before the faithful. Remind the Cats and Swans what we're capable of

See you all at the G later

I've not heard the expression "total bottle jobs" before. I realise it's not intended to be complimentary, but what, exactly, does it mean? Is it a reference to being fakes (as in "bottle blonde") or something to do with having the qualities of a drunk person? Or something else?

bottle job

a footballer or football team who consistently collapse under pressure or blow leads

That could describe our second half of 2022!!

Play like we did up here at the Gabba it will be a comfortable win and may give the coaches a chance to rest a couple in last quarter. Anything less it will be tight but we still win.

Tonight’s banner has a stunning pic of Lever, Maxy, Dogga and Tracc. It will look spectacular when raised. (I’m sure other teams’ cheer squads must be envious of our banners. We’re blessed to have in the DA a rusted-on Dees diehard who runs a printing company, and the quality of his work is next level.)

And to the left of the pic there’s written in huge letters:

WE’RE NOT DONE YET!

I can’t remember exactly the wording on the flip side (even though I cut the letters out 🤭) but I do know it includes the words ‘unbeatable’ and ‘repeatable’ so one gets the gist of it. ❤️💙

If weather permits it'll be shown to the Shane Warne wing right? Looks stunning!

Pretty sure it comes from english slang.  to 'bottle it', is to choke or lose your nerve. not only in sporting terms. ie. didn't have the nerve to ask a girl out

Not as confident as many, our recent form on the MCG is mediocre at best…hope we win but it will be close

If you look at our mediocre MCG record since round 11, we've lost to Freo once, Sydney twice and Collingwood twice while beating Brisbane and Carlton once.

Meanwhile with regards to our interstate record of 7-0, 5 of those wins came against non finalists.

I think our average MCG record can be attributed to losing to high quality sides more so than the venue not suiting us as much. We had no issues winning our first 6 MCG against mostly mediocre clubs.

Why? The Queen lived a magnificent life. She achieved so much and died peacefully surrounded by family at age 96 in her favourite castle.

I can't think of a single one of us who wouldn't be happy with that ending.

Death is an inevitable part of life, just like losing is in football. If you have a really successful period in football and it comes to an end, you make peace with it. The Queen's life and death is no different.

David King has said on SEN this morning that our strategy of kicking to the pocket inside 50 has destroyed our campaign. Said we have got caught up with “the percentage play” and he hates it.

Partly defended Spargo, ANB, & Melksham in saying that if we had a better method, they would be able to get more involved.

Hard to argue with that. I agree. Against Sydney we played boring, predictable football. Against Brisbane the game before we were more daring, moved the ball quicker, which leaves space for our smalls to get to ground balls and apply the pressure that won us a premiership.

Definitely. We would always do a show to both sides if we could. But even if it’s not raining or not too windy, if the grass is wet a show is not likely, which sucks because the pic side of it and/or the non-advertisement side is always facing the race. Therefore not everyone gets to appreciate how amazing it is.

Kozzie to go to ballistic

Hopefully, Kozzie will be able to stay goalside instead of being (almost) the sole forward running here, there and everywhere (out of range of his excellent kicking) playing the whole defensive pressure contributor across the forward line.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
