2022 Finals Tickets

weather forecast tomorrow is 'partly sunny' with no rain forecast

still reckon if we pull more than 55k it will be an excellent result

Given we have 65k members. Plus thousands of MCC supporting non-members, how could one possibly think 55k at a semi final would be an excellent result?

Just my final thoughts on what crowd will be tomorrow.

34K on level 1, 8k on level 2, 3k on level 2a and 10k on level 4

55k is what that gets me which i still think may be overs but am hoping we get a little more

So disappointing.

If I was a melb player running out of the race to a half empty G for a semi, I'd be slightly deflated.

Petracca was right all along.

So disappointing.

Keep in mind 65,000 memberships does not mean 65,000 members let alone 65,000 adults who can readily get to games.

eg MCC members buy MFC memberships, members like me have 3 memberships.  Only one person turns up for these multiple memberships.

Then there are kids, elderly, i/state and country members who simply can't get to games.

Take those out of the 65,000 memberships and I reckon the number of members able to attend games, even finals, is more like 50,000.

Not sure where you get your forecast from. Bureau of Meteorology has it down as:

Partly cloudy. High (70%) chance of showers, most likely in the afternoon and evening. The chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening. Winds northerly 20 to 30 km/h decreasing to 15 to 20 km/h in the late afternoon then becoming light in the late evening.

that is so weird, the bom is saying that but the other weather app on my pc says:

Is it tho? If there are 50,000 Melbourne fans there considering we are a small club I think that’s a good effort. Mcc will be full to the back and that’s what they run out to.

also an incredibly small uptake of tickets from brisbane members.

i still think there is a small chance we may get to 60k.

Agreed LH. I went last week but am not going tomorrow due to kids sport and that by watching at home I get to enjoy it with the kids who are a bit young to regularly attend late games.  My household directly accounts for 6 of the 65,000 and I'm sure there are many others in the same situation. The positive with having alot of new members belonging to young families is that they are of the age to grow our membership base over the next generation.

Perhaps.

I get the feeling there'll be more Brissy supporters there than most are giving credit.

Fitzroy supporters, there'll still be a percentage of Brissy Lion MCC supporters and then you've got the Melb based ones plus thousands that will travel down.

Was just hoping for it to be a very raucous and loud pro Melb crowd.

Agree it is great to grow the membership.

I just find it a little frustrating that so many posters here are berating members for not turning up.

As I alluded to earlier memberships do not equal members.  I know an MCC member who has an MFC membership and buys an MFC GA membership.  Like me it is 3 memberships but only 1 person.  The other 4 'members' don't exist.

Hope you enjoy the night with the kids and the team brings home a win!

Well it doesn't matter whether it's members or just supporters.

Getting under 60k to a semi final for a side who have been in the wilderness for decades is a disappointment and I'm not sure that can be argued?

Brisbane were very loud in round 15. They had a lot of support there and they'll only have more given it's a final.

So if we do indeed get around the 55-60K range I'm going to guess that there'll be more than 10,000 Brissy supporters. More like 15,000.

We got about 35,000 to our Grand Final day at the G fcs!

This is a semi final! What's going on!?

Nothing is going on, game is tomorrow and wait until then to blow a head gasket.

You just said it JG, that we have been in wilderness for decades. It takes more than one year to make a lot of people think we will not crumble when the pressure comes on. Just like it did last week. The MFC has a large number of older members that find it difficult going to a night game that gets them home after midnight.   Add that we are not great at playing the G and for a lot of people this game has us only going through the motions.

Poor form and the fact we have dropped games against good sides for weeks, suggests to fans that this is likely to be a loss and all over for 2022.

I’m not really concerned too much about outside noise on crowd figures, just as long as we win tomorrow. Next Friday will be 90k+ if we make it. Guaranteed.

Are you assuming in your estimation that about 5-10% of people who bought tickets won't show?

Or JB marvelling about two traditional Melbourne sides in Geelong and Collingwood doing battle last week.

That was hilarious, "umm Geelong is not in Melbourne dude" 🤦‍♂️🤣

I very nearly gave up my AFL membership the last two years. As a Gold tier member i am effectively guaranteed a ticket to the GF if Melbourne makes it... I think I'll hold onto the membership for a few more years at least :p

Just pray we don't play Collingwood in a GF or you might find yourself in row HH of level 4.

Yes, I think if all people with tickets show up (especially mcc) the crowd would be 65k.

Just jumped on Ticketek to see how the game is selling  and The Swans now have a ballot up. Find it strange that Priority One have to go in a ballot, I took it that Grand Final Guarantee meant just that. Will we need to Register should we win this weekend. PS The Swans might not have a Grand Final Guarantee connected to Priority One Member. The cats had to do this yesterday.

Sydney Swans Members Grand Final Ballot Registration

In the MFC email today about the GF ballot ... the word doc said it was 'one in all in' or 'one out all out'. Interesting, assume that means that any grouped barcodes are treated as one entry and then you either all get to go or no one gets to go. What about if there are only a few sets of 3 seats in a row left and your entry has 4 or more barcodes - I assume you miss out even if you are selected in a random approach.

I was reflecting on the many posts in this and other threads that draw on the 65,000 members as the reference point for their 'dees fans don't go to games' narrative.

Certainly < 60,000 is a disappointment.  But if we were playing Collingwood it would be 90,000+.  But then the narrative on here would be 'dees fans don't make enough noise'.

Yes, we as fans could do a lot better attending and noise at games but I find the constant dees fan criticism (not referring to yourself) uncomfortable.

I don't care to repeat why I don't get to all games but if I don't go, there is a good reason.

If you have reasons that you believe are valid for not attending, you have no need to feel uncomfortable about the criticism?

But if you feel uncomfortable, you must be taking it personally?

So I'm confused.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
