A lot of MCC members would have reserved a seat on level 4 to make sure they get a ticket just in case but they'll walk down to sit on level 1 or 2 on the night.

Yep i'm going by myself, Reserved on level 4 to gain entry/worst case scenario, but will be watching from one of the little terraces.

What row in M4 are your seats?

@Wodjathefirst

Row H.  (8 rows back?) Allegedly I’ve been told I could easily pass off for looking like a Collingwood supporter

Other accusations (far less offensive) is I have been asked a few time ‘are you Max Gawn’s  dad?)

Look for a tallish old bugger that is bald and has a grey (white) longish  beard

I will definitely look out for a ‘tallish old bugger that is bald and has a grey (white) longish beard’ but it might be difficult to find you since that doesn’t really narrow the field down much. Every second bloke at the footy fits that description! 😆

I’m better looking and more modest than every second bloke- which I guess makes me very average-  Seat 15

I’ll pop over to say hello! I’d invite you to come say hello in my bay but I can’t guarantee your safety: there’s a lot going on in the first few rows of the cheer squad… A LOT! It’s bedlam. Flagpoles being waved around indiscriminately, giant heads aplenty and don’t even get me started on the floggers!

The cheer squad is always in Bay M3. So you’re safe. 😄 But good luck with remaining sedate!

I usually sit there, saying little, just riding the bumps, with a grin.    But my darling who did not follow a football side absolutely loves the theatre of a game, so she says what I am thinking, that way I still have some sort of voice left.   Go Dees

Now I know why Melb has  had such a spreadeagled MCC seating membership all season on the upper levels.

This is called DOUBLE DIPPING and the MCC should be calling this out if any member is discovered doing this on Match day and penalising members who practice this selfishness. Ultimately leads to when the seats are needed to some members missing out or their families being penalised.

Hopefully Covid style ticketing can also be discontinued and the previous systems reintroduced which hopefully are honest and not capable of being defrauded.

I am simply going to stand by myself behind the seats on level 1.

Usually I just rock up without reserving a seat but this is a final and I was concerned it may reach capacity.

It's the MCCs fault, they should just open up all seats to reserved seating, that way people could reserve the seats they actually want without going through the charade.

If anyone has a ticket they’d like to sell, please let me know.

There's still tickets available in GA. Albeit level 4 at the back.

Just did a test and seems ticket allocation is slowly but surely filling up.

You'd certainly hope for a crowd of at least 70k.

Sydney has a sizeable Melbourne supporter base which last I heard was around 15k Melbourne-based members. Throw in around 10k supporters coming from Sydney, and then hopefully 35k-40k (at least) Melbourne supporters and members, and then neutrals, plus corporates... 70k not outside the realm of possibility at all. 60k+ a bonus but anything below that would be a huge disappointment.

Thanks.  Yes, just checked.  Too far up for me 🙁 Maybe someone will have a spare ticket closer to the action before game day.

Do you know which rows of level 4 are walk up?

I'm an MCC but booked reserved seats. Got straight in just after 9 am and the best I got for three seats was row Q which is a fair way back.

Strangely or not its the front rows Row A up to about Row S right across Level 4..  Booked Level 4 seats are all 'up the back'.

Terrible.

Not sure what you are talking about. All of level 4 in the mcc went up for reserved seating.

That's not what the Ticketek map shows. It shows the shaded areas for booking on the ground map and they're all up the back. I got connected in 10 minutes and got Row S.  Should have got Rows A, B, C etc. if your theory was correct.

But then again the Ticketek system is a disgrace so who knows.

What I know for certain because I tested it with someone else during the booking turmoil, is that whn the site says"  your in a queue so don't refersh or you'll lose your spot..."  this is NOT true,.

There is no queue.  You just get connected on luck.  I saw this with my own eyes.  I was looged on and waiting for ever, a friend sitting next to me logged on - got connected in 2 minutes - I'm still waiting.

I may have access to some tickets, not sure where exactly but AFL members somewhere.

Yeh, I was under the assumption that Level 4 was entirely ticketed. Thought it had been all year?

And explains why my seats were row Q even though I was on ticketek before 9 am.

Weird.

When I was on, the green shaded area was for all the bays rows A-MM, except Q47 and Q48 because rows A-H are dry bays and are sold separately so that is what you may have seen?

This is per the MCC website for our game:

"A dedicated amount of walk up seating will be available on Levels 1, 2 and 3 the Members’ Reserve.

Reserved seats will be sold on demand. Any unsold seats will become additional walk -up areas. To view the Members’ Reserve seating map, please click here."

No mention of level 4 and the reserved seating map expects level 4 to all be reserved seating.

They used to have half of level 4 as walk top but that was from rows Z-MM not the other way round which would just be stupid.

We will see next Thursday when they post their walk up areas but I suspect you are wrong.

FWIW i also got MCC tickets for the Pies v Cats (which sold out in about 15 mins), and got offered seats around the LL row on level 4.

Well done - your'e 3 rows in front of me!!!  Will be lots of Dees around us at least

Level 4 was all ticketed in the early days.  Pity not for finals though.

I agree it would be stupid,  but that's what the ticketek map showed, the MCC map is incorrect and just a generic map.

As menitoned by another poster on here, logged on at 9.00am and got Row Q. I looged on at 9.10 and got Row S.

Physically impossible if all of Level 4 was ticketed. My experience also.

The MCC and Clubs hand over all ticketting to Ticketek in finals. Only one map counts.

I shall be queing up now to get a better walk up seat which should be fairly straightforward.

Ticketek now shows all pre-booked areas sold out.  Level 4 will  not be full because of this issue.

Enjoy the game and the week's break till the prelim!

The MCC informs the Afl/Ticketek which bays are to go on sale and they are the bays in that map. It is not generic it is specific to the 2022 finals series weeks 1-3.

Was chatting to someone yesterday who was telling me the MCC are unhappy with the 'double dippers'. People who get a reserved seat and then take up walk up seats. Don't shoot the messenger just passing on what I heard. Seems to me this is a problem of the MCCs own making (all tix should be reserved for finals if you ask me,)

Suggested they would open the gates earlier for those that haven't already secured a seat.

Logistically this would be a nightmare but I guess its possible. If you have already secured a seat through Ticketek then your bar code wouldn't give you access to the ground until an hour after those that had not secured seats.

Will be interested in seeing whether this eventuates,

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
