Could not happen to a nicer bunch of flogs, can only hope this derails them for another 5 years.

Really hoping Clarko stays with the Roos option.

Truck doesn't come across as the brightest bulb in the chandelier - can't see him surviving. Yze must get one of Norf,  GWS or Essendrug. I think we will be without him next year unfortunately.

He seems like a nice enough bloke, so I'm sorry for him. Must be terribly stressful.

Gee Essendon don't have much patience. First they get rid of Hird then sack Worsfold and now Rutten. How about giving a coach some time to build a list.

Dodoro has been there since Sheedy. It’s his list that has been built. It has massive holes, but they should be on the fringes of the 6 with that midfield and backline.

Was it always coming or was it the magnitude and opposition of the weekends loss?

Forget the cash strapped Roos.
Clarko will follow the money and go to Essendon.

With the soft cap, how can Essendon have more money to offer than North? Surely if Clarkson takes more money himself from Essendon there would be less available for all other football requirements, including assistant coaches.

It all seems very much like Melbourne after the 186 game. Headless chooks not knowing who to sack and the order in which to sack them.

Dodoro is a massive problem but don't agree they should be around the mark for finals - their list is shocking.

I think Dodoro has been reasonable at picking new talent. However, he doesn't seem to know how to manage the trade and list management components of the job. My suspicion is that Josh Mahoney and Dodoro may have a testy relationship which will see one of them leave as part of this upheaval.

Agree to disagree. I am not going to in-depth analysis of that list as that is what unleashes unholy spirits. I just like Laverde and Redman in the backline with their midfield being as talented as StK’s.

And I am of the opinion that unless you are Melbourne 2013 or NM currently; you are a good coach away (or a committed team) from 8th.

Just sacked.

Not according to a lot of media. They are saying he is safe for now. Someone may have gone too early on this.

he got them into the 8 last year, a definite set back this year but he may still be the right coach. After 2 years i think they are better off putting better assistant coaches around him to see how he goes. otherwise you might be throwing away 2 years of investment.

Neil Mitchell on 3AW reported he was sacked.
Tom Browne now reporting he’s safe for now.

I'd be backing dodoro to survive that standoff. Bloke must be an expert politician behind the scenes or some photos or perhaps both.

Sounds like Neil got it wrong.

Sounds like they wanted to have a go at Clarko and if he is already committed, then they are probably keeping Rutten.

How bad are things going if they couldn’t keep it in house until getting confirmation from Clarko.

Its a circus.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
