Just as a side note, are the Bulldogs and their fans the greatest over-celebrators in the history of the game. They are labelling it as a “historic win” and Bevo said it was “monumental”. They’ve posted black and white images of Bont and Bevo embracing in the change rooms. You’ve got Weightman interviewing after the game saying they can win it all. Yep, he actually said that. For a team that is one loss away from missing the eight, what an absurd thing to say. You’d think they’d learn

What upsets me, is seeing sides like Carlton and Collingwood, kicking inside forward 50, to guys leading and making space and the kicks going right to them.

Skill, practice or Coaching, or all three?

Yeh that was an absolute joke, i am not sure whats was better, that or the bump ball that was paid a mark.

I readily accept errors get made in games, but consistent one officiating is hard to swallow.

Let them have their moment, lets see what happens in 5 weeks time when the real season starts.

What was that even about? What rule was that? Not being facetious - genuinely interested.

Something to do with having to wait for the wave of the flag before going into the square or along those lines I think?

Yeah over celebrating for sure, probably think it atones for the grand final loss, they won't make finals this year.

A lot of players are below par due to nagging injuries  - Gawn, Oliver, Langdon, Lever, Rivers, Salem, Brown and probably Jackson. I think this explains our current position and I doubt it will be corrected any time soon. My expectations for the rest of the year are quite low.

How funny was Hibberd. Like when you know someone has lost the plot and you just slowly back away, without objection

Make no mistake. They absolutely hate us. They beat us in the corresponding game this round last year and felt they had the wood over us. Then 3 goals up mid way through the 3rd quarter in a grand final and they could taste it. Followed by the most brutal 30 minutes of football anyone has ever seen to destroy them.

Yeah, they can’t stand us. And I love it.

They play Cats in Mordor then Freo so good luck with that! Doubt they can get in on 12 wins

Bulldogs fans are an interesting lot.
A larger collection of mullets I haven’t seen since 1983.
They were carrying on like pork chops last night until you reminded them what happened in last year’s grand final and how far they’ve fallen since.

First time I have witnessed that rule. Are we sure it exists?

I just hope this puts MFC well and truly under the radar now. I hope the media completely writes us off. There's plenty of other sexy teams to talk about now.

Every time one of our players went near it last night the Bulldogs everywhere behind us yelled out "[censored] you, Pickett!", "you're a [censored] Gawn" etc. They really do hate us. I hate them too, but I'd forgotten I hated them until last night, simply because we won the important game that mattered last year and shut them up.

Interestingly it is all about aexy football at the moment. Offense is clearly beating up on defences at the moment.

Afl will be happy

You're right, it's written into folklore now. My father is a Collingwood fan and still can't get 1970 out of his head. It's the price you pay, we're not here to be liked.

M.Lloyd. “They didn’t lose after R17 last year, where as this year they have lost R17, and R19”

Pretty easy to dig up last years fixture and see that we lost R19 Matthew.

Other than that, interesting and good points.

Yeah, go saints

Just wondering did anyone else think Frisch was a bit stiff not to be paid a mark from behind Khamis in the first quarter? Looked like two clean grabs & would have been a certain goal.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
