I hate the filth. This luck can't last it simply can't.

Time to face facts.

I give them about a 5% chance of winning the flag

They are playing out of their skin at the moment. McRae has done an outstanding job with them but they will not maintain this level for another 2 months imo

Both of those sides ran the game out strongly too. We look totally knackered by that time of the game.

Disagree. Pies ran over Bombers in last 10 minutes, with that extra days break. I think nearly every team with shorter break suffered the same thing. The fixed ture has really killed us late in the year. Even the two bottom sides we play twice are Pies and Dockers, while others got Eagles and Roos.

We lost yesterday after coming off a 5 day break. I'm a little more bullish then most as I think we can get a run on and still win it.

Wow I flicked over to the NRL between nth Qld cowboys and west tigers and that ending was just as bizarre.

Anyway yeah surely Essendon have practiced how to set up defensively from a kick in but Collingwood were to quick. Collingwood play port at the G next week. Ugh

I haven’t bought into the talk that the umpiring is driving fans away but after last night and some of the games today, I can at least understand how some ppl feel that way.

They have absolutely been hit in the [censored] by a rainbow.  I don't recall so many close games going one way ever.  Their percentage of 106 despite only losing 5 games tells you everything about where they really are.  It will take a miracle for them to win the flag, yet it seems that might be possible.

By what logic is it a 5 day break? If your logic is based on days between games, then we have another one against Freo this week.

I think it's silly to write Collingwood off now and make ourselves feel better by saying that they won't win a final and won't do anything etc. The fact is that they are on an absolute tear and have caught lightening in a bottle. Are they the best side? No. But they are playing out of their skin right now with absolute trust for one another and are as good a chance as anyone in that top 4. Momentum like that you can certainly package up and go all the way with.

Oh, you want logic? Sorry, I do vibes.

Although I find a little comfort in knowing Essendon were celebrating there 20 year premiership reunion there with the players so there day was ruined today.

They then play us then sydney at the scg and Carlton. Pretty rough run home for them and about time too.

Could easily lose 3 of next 4. Go out in the first week of finals.

Let's hope that happens.

They are a legit chance. Winning makes all the difference. Win last night and we are a game clear in top 4. Lose and we are deflated and on the verge of missing top 4 all together. Winning is huge in this game and especially when you're on the verge of finals. Reality is they are pressured and pushed to the brink almost every week, and almost every week they have found a way to win. Good teams do that. Time they are respected for it.

I am willing to bet that they have a big loss on the horizon, hopefully against us, but if they make the top 4 I'd say it would be a good cheeky bet for them to make the Grand Final.

It’s going to be a Geelong V Collingwood grand final.

Just lock it in now.

It's what the AFL want. Carlton their other preferred option.

They've certainly put themselves in an excellent position to challenge.

The draw on Friday night has cost Freo Top 4. Some posters seemed to think the draw wasn't much different to a win

They have also won every game after ours by roughly a goal or less ..the teams that they best are in bottom 4 or close to it & I think  all season apart from Adelaide & GC Suns away  their wins have all been at the G. They also (like our run last year ) have had a very good injury run. We will see where they are after the last 4 games of the season.

Given their finish last year they were afforded an easier draw …drawing twice ..many of the lower placed sides. I am still out on how good they are . I also realise we will see how good we are after the next 4 games. Pretty sure the pies last 4 games are all at the G whilst we travel to OS the last of a 6 game hiatus from the G & then finish away . A tough draw with no favours for the reigning premiers. Still if we’re good enough we’ll do ok

All very good points, the only problem with the close wins argument is that there's one stat that matters and that's the W column for the last 9 weeks. The jury is out on how good they are as a team but they are playing with a level of belief right now that is like planets aligning. It could take them very far.

For all the angst, wailing and gnashing of teeth, we find ourselves in second spot on the ladder at the end of Round 19.  I'm confident most of us would have taken that if it was offered before the season began.

Have faith, fellow supporters.  Things are never as bad as they seem.

They either slow the game down, which really wouldn't do the game any harm, and at the same time make it more fair, or speed it up which would make it not having the resemblance of any rules at all.

You're right Demonstone, if we can put one over the Shockers next week we're back on track. In the meantime let's kick back, put on some Exile on Main St and try to enjoy the rest of our weekends.

I call this a 5 day break too.

Finish last night at 10pm. Asleep maybe 2.00am sunday

Break days Sunday to thurs only as at least a day lost travelling to Perth. Only a clear 5 rest days.

Dockers played friday and home next day. No travel before the game.

In what universe is this fair?

We lose this I see the dogs taking our spot in the 8.

Mandatory  win one more game to ensure finals.

Right now that looks tough.

Maybe it is, we're going to have to do it the hard way nonetheless. So probably best to stop whining and complaining about it and get to work!

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
