I got a Bud to bear with this thread. It should be Lions.

Yes but in the interests of alliteration Buddy the Bear sounds much better.

I really just wanted to say 'Bud to bear' Gonzo. I quite liked the title in all honesty.

Strange to say the least if true

I could understand GCS doing it to increase attendances but why when you have Daniher, Hipwood and Cameron would you want an ageing Buddy

No one said what the Lions think yet have they? And he can replace Mc Stay at a goal per game in 2022!

Hi Dazz. Our mail is that the Lions have offered 1 year at $750 and there is no certainty that even if the Swans match it now, he’d stay.  The other big news we’re hearing is that the Swans have told Josh Kennedy that they can’t guarantee him a game next year and surprisingly, rather than retire, he’s looking at 1 year offers from both the Kangas & GWS.
It appears the Swans are looking to move on from these two great Champions.

Also hearing that Geelong has made enquiries about Grundy.

Thanks mate, great Intel

The Kennedy to North makes a whole heap of sense from a playing experience and leadership point of view. The loss of Cunnington this year had left a huge hole in their midfield.

Other then the Jackson scenario, will we be active this trade period?

Tim Lamb is always trying to be active and is very highly regarded by Player Managers. Naturally, it all depends on the Jackson scenario and how that washes out.  We are still of the view that he goes.

Kennedy would be a great get for the Roos. They might have a few similar mids but you don't say no to that kind of leadership.

Well the old churches leagues were just as bad and so was Federal Football League.

Hah. Played a couple of years in that. Loved those unfenced grounds. If you followed the ball over the boundary into the spectators you'd cop half a dozen jabs to the kidneys on your way back on the field. Fun times !

From a Swans perspective, I think it's pretty disappointing that Buddy would move for the money given the length of contract and money the Swans have forked out for him historically. Still, mayne their offer was very low-ball.

Any news on Buddy since the potential lions one year deal? I find it hard to believe he would leave for a one year deal

Another 52 goals. 3 contested marks and 2 goals in the prelim.

I wonder if the Demons are interested? I know I would be keen!

He’ll be at the Swans for 2 more

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
