Saw an angry Collingwood fan call him a 'trader' for leaving - enjoyed that one

Suck on that Pies. Hope you enjoy seeing your favourite son winning a flag next year

May will have two options from the kick outs now!!

I believe the pies are paying $300k of the $1mill a year... so nothing has changed on that front it seems. If we get him fit, paying $700k for an elite ruck is a bargain even at $750k.

Not really when you're already paying another elite ruck north of that amount. $1.5m+ out of a $13m salary cap (11.5%) to two ruckman who can't really play elsewhere is lopsided list management.

Yes but, “Trader” OD. If you’re gonna bag an ex player at least spell your insult correctly.

Deal done. Pick 27.

No suggestion of later pick swap/slide.

Only question is how much of his salary they'll pay.

You mean we didn’t slide to pick 16 for 13 & 27, but but the Demonland naysayers said we would

that's what happens when you've got no teeth.

Gawn’s contract may well have been loaded differently.

I don’t think you can ever truly evaluate the list management of a club unless they are having a fire sale, or unable to sign key players. To be fair we have a lot of our best players on long terms contracts. We would have known Jackson’s value and offered him an amazing deal. He wanted to go home so we spent that money on a dual All Australian. To be in the position to do that reflects well I reckon.

What's wrong about that WCW! Only joking. Suddenly the accuser becomes the [censored].

Love getting one up on the Pies. Makes up for that terrible Kennedy and pick 29 for Howe trade.

Well that feels a bit better if we can get Max and Brodie superfit look out 2023 and beyond. Just need that extra big forward and backup ruck and we will be on a roll.!!!

Quite funny isn't PSD. IMO we have done quite well in the trade period. Got overs for Jackson and paid Unders for the bun.

Even so, he wouldn’t be a trader. Rather, he’d be a tradee, no?

That's true although there is clearly one gaping hole that usually takes plenty of dollars to fill.

I'm liking OD Version 10.0.

Looking forward to seeing his first game for the red and the blue in person for once…

Looking forward to 2023. Of the $$$ is what is mooted this is great value.

Gawn won’t ever be AA ruckman again and that’s ok. If he can kick 30+ goals and allow us to kick to the top of the square then great. Let’s fashion a fwd line around that.

Adding word for context

The last big man we traded in from pies was Dawes for pick 20. I have a feeling this might be a more solid trade

But we were set on doing that anyway with Jackson. It worked ok in 21. Fingers crossed it works again.

What?

Again, he won’t be again. He will be FF moving into the ruck.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
