A fairly similar coach vote for top 3 honours.   Interesting that 3 of our defenders got votes.  They deserve it - a record number of intercept marks.

Split
5/5 Petracca
4/3 Oliver and May
2/0 Dawson and Lever
1/0 Langdon and Brayshaw

Oliver now has a big lead.  Will be interested to see how many Brownlow votes he has after round 16.

Pfffft what would AFL coaches know about who played well?  According to opposition fans on Facebook he only gets 30 backwards handpasses a game and doesn't hurt the opposition.  They'd know more than the coaches wouldn't they?

Hopefully, the umpires are switched on and give Oliver the Brownlow votes he deserves.

I still find it baffling that footy fans rate/like players not from their team eg Cripps, Danger, Dusty, Bontempelli, Neale etc etc but don't rate or like Oliver.

Agreed. I was out for lunch yesterday with a couple of Carlton supporting mates, who were baffled by the level of my delight when asked about Clarry's 7 year deal.

Oliver likely to win b2b coaches awards is rare air. I think Ablett Jnr was the last player to do so.

Forget back to back, Ablett Jnr is the ONLY player to win more than one coaches award over the course of an entire career.

Clarry will be in rare company if he continues this form.

Out of curiosity, went and had a look at the complete list. Ablett Jr won it three times in consecutive years (2007-2009). Interestingly, Simon Goodwin won it in 2006.

To state the obvious, it's a list of very good players: https://aflcoaches.com.au/awards/the-aflca-champion-player-of-the-year-award

And whats even scarier is that he will probably clean up is kicking a bit more, goalkicking a bit more. And when he gets even more confidence and experience, he will exit stoppage and move to the right places even more. There is no question on his contested dominance. He is probably only 2nd to Diesel - but that was a different era arguably at the end of his career he may just be the GOAT.

Trac is a bit more balanced in contested / uncontested footy, which is fine. You have to have different types of players in the middle. But even his clearance play, explosiveness and sheer power will go down in history.

Add Viney and Gawn into that mix and we have a centre square line-up that is truly remarkable.

with clarry already on 83 points he's likely to break the points record, too

Another sensational year from Clarry.  I think we have Clarry polling Brownlow votes in at least 9 (maybe 11) of our 15 games so far.  Likely only issue is if he gets the 3,2,1.  I think C……Petracca will be the one to take votes off Clarry.  Guys like Brayshaw, Neale, Miller and Cripps won’t have another star taking votes.

I reckon Gawn has 4 x 3 vote games so far as well.  Port, Giants, Hawthorn and Swans.

There will be others taking votes...Walsh at Carlton for example poles well, not sure how Rowell is going this season at GC.

Neale will be the one though, a bit of an umpires pet.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
