Disappointed that Jackson is out but liked this bit in the article “In a huge boost, Gawn is expected back for the Demons in round 17”.

Thank god Max will be back.

Can’t understand MBrown coming in would rather Thomo.

I really don't see the benefit of Mitch Brown playing at all.

Given a shot in 2 games this year and did sweet FA in both.

Poor JVR has to miss a VFL game tomorrow because he is a travelling emergency. Wouldnt you just play the kid ahead of someone that's 32 and way past it and then certainty to be delisted at years end..

Well they said Mitch.Brown is on stand by. He'd be on stand by anyway that's how it works.

Surely Tomlinson would be well ahead of Mitch either in the team or as medical sub.

Ruck Weed and promote JVR, Mitch goes missing in the forward line at AFL level. All well and good to reward effort but pointless in Mitch's case as he will let you down at AFL level.

As above.

Ah the dreaded Norm Smith Jake Spencer curse resurfaces

I was thinking this as well. What is it about backup ruckman, they always seem to get injured just when they get their big chance? I am sure I remember if Jamar got injured so would Spencer and Stef Martin. When Gawn missed a some games a few seasons ago so did Braydon Pruess. Now Gawn goes down, Jackson lasts one game and Majak retires!

Everyone relax will ya. We don’t have a ruckman for one game against a bottom 4 team. Half the comp plays without one every week.

Actually we don’t really know who’ll be available next week, do we.

Are you sure he's the travelling emergency or just one of the four named emergencies?

I'd expect him to line up for Casey.

Pretty sure there was footage of him training with the lads in Adelaide.

Have they yet named his replacement?

Surely Tomlinson must get a look in unless they want to debut JVR thrown right in the deep end.

Club said Gawn will be back. I’ll take the All Australian ruckman back. We can fit him in.

Makes my suggestion last year, to keep Austin Bradtke for another year as Insurance, sound quite good now.

It was foresight and not hindsight.

I actually thought he was doing ok at CHB and in the ruck. Certainly no star, but good Insurance until we could bolster ruck depth.

No foresight there. Sadly Austin wasn't close to VFL standard. Couldn’t ruck, mark, kick or handball.

I just want to know how bad the injury is and for how long he will be out?! Someone? anyone?

Sounds like a one weeker

Yes, Mitch Brown in to the starting 22.

Where did you read this? The Club haven’t said anything.

Mitch Brown has been selected as Jackson's replacement. That's who should have been playing 2nd ruck at Casey last week.

Yet to be seen if he plays ruck...

My guess is Ben Brown. Heaven help us if he gets injured.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
