I reckon the Pies are cooked and peaked around a month ago. The Blues will beat them on and Sunday and their season will be over with a whimper

their young players are starting to tire. Even young Daicos is well off the boil

Ginnivan out is big.ย

Their best inside mid in Adams canโ€™t get on the park. Should be back by finals they hope

they looked exhausted against the swans the ponies forgot their one trick

Ginnivan not ruled out. Will have a bit of mongrel in him if he plays this week.ย

One game to go and we could still play 5 different teams week 1 of finals. Sydney home or away, Cats, Tigers, Blues, Dogs

giants almost beat the dogs last week, whos to say they wonโ€™t beat Freo at home this week?

canโ€™t remember ever having this many perms and combs possible ย in the last round.ย

I like that we have TMac on the come back, and likely to be back for the finals. Often under rated as to his value and impact on our forward line.ย

Gotta beat Lions, but with Tommy back we'll be ready to have a red hot tilt at September irrespective.

And... imagine the glory of winning it from 6th..!ย

Brave coach and FD to pull the trigger on TMac in first week of finalsโ€ฆ

Not sure who would go out either.

My hope is that the sun rule is tweaked for finals and becomes just another sub.

anyone else getting 1987 vibes about this years final round.

so many permutations with the final games of the season deciding whoโ€™s the last final spot (glad weโ€™re already in this time) remember it vividly hanging on for the result in Geelong to go our way

Another game, another litmus test.
Whatever happens after our run home taking on most of the top 8, the boys will be battle hardened for the finals like no others.

Sydney 100- St Kilda 50.

We finish 3rd.

Keep an eye on this kind of score.

Yep, but 99-50 won't do it for them.

It's that close.

The Saints defence has actually been pretty decent the last 5 weeks. Only conceded 100 pts to Geelong and surely you think they score at least 70 at Marvel.

The 9 goal margin will be in the heads of the Swans and I actually think because itโ€™s so large itโ€™ll distract them.

Saints biggest loss this year at Marvel has been 41pts (to Freo) and have won most of their games at Marvel this year.

Iโ€™m pretty confident this wonโ€™t be a blow out.

True, but Sydney are very good and St Kilda are not very good.

I'm hoping St Kilda get up for Hannebery and Max King has a determination to kick straight which sees him bag 5.0 or something.

Remember, in the unlikely event of a Swans loss, we will host Collingwood, Fremantle or Brisbane (imagine that - each of Sydney, Fremantle and Collingwood lose and we get Brisbane again!).

We need to send Russell Robertson to Max King tomorrow morning to teach him how to kick. ย In my memory, he is the one player that weโ€™ve had that went from ordinary in front of goal to extremely reliable. ย

We are 11-0 interstate

Swans lost to Suns and Lions at the SCG this year

I'm not bothered where we play

Further to your point:

Weโ€™ve beaten Sydney twice since 2001 at the MCG. Just TWICE.

That is quite frankly embarrassing over a 21 year period.

The pressure will be on us more at the G than at the SCG.ย
Itโ€™s unequivocal now that our ย preparation and execution for interstate games is second to none, dating back to August 2021.

ย

On a positive note both Richmond and Bulldogs have interstate finals.ย  Probably:

Lions vs Tigers at the Gabba.

Freo vs Bulldogs at Optus

The Dogs should be blown off the park by any of the other 7 sides in the top 8.

Their win over us is the only time they've played well since Round 9.

Post-bye they beat Hawthorn twice, GWS twice, St Kilda and us.

But I fear they'll reset over the bye and Fremantle will do a Carlton and [censored] the bed.

On current form Brisbane will lose to Richmond.

Oh, ok. I will let Goodwin know.

Although, Geelong have lost prelims and GFs the last decade against teams lower on the ladderโ€ฆ

And anything can happen when big finals are played at our home ground and not theirsโ€ฆ

But no, youโ€™re right, letโ€™s just give up.

Pretty happy with my prediction.ย  Maybe look at things a bit more objectively next time.

I am objective as they come o_d, but I am never going to pontificate on any prognostication relating to the glorification of the evil that lives in Mordor (Geelong).

Happy trails friend.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
