On Footy Classified Caro said it was poor of Pies fans to boo Oliver, for being named BOG, just like Dees fans booed Pendles for getting the same honour in 2019. Problem was it was an Anzac Day game and Pies played Essendon and it was the Bomber fans who booed.

Waiting for the apology Caro!

I thought you were going to say she apologized for having a crack at our crowd numbers when Richmond only got 21k last week

Hope you've got a decent wingback Chester (with matching footstool), a roaring fire, a decent pipe, plenty of smokin' tobaccy, a giant barrel of Melbourne premiership port and a compliant pooch (slipper retrieval) handy Mr Leg

Maybe I’ve got rose tinted glasses but I can’t see the Melbourne fans booing a player for being named BOG. Oliver was an absolute freak on Monday, similar to Max the other week he alone almost dragged us over.

Pies fans really are a special breed of filth.

I think you might have rose coloured glasses on. Perhaps a generation or two ago it might have been different, but nowadays all clubs have all sorts of supporters. Varying degrees perhaps, but I think in the same situation (euphoria after a big win, disappointment  the award didn’t go to our own player), there would have been audible boos also.

I think that you are missing the point VC it was an Essendon / Collingwood game where the Booing came from, Caro was wrong but she still got in a cheap shot at us again an admission that she was wrong may help.!!

I do have a bottle of Robbie Flower Port, that is probably undrinkable now, after so many years adorning the bar.

I think you are missing the point that my comment had nothing to do with Caro saying it was Melbourne supporters that booed Pendles (which is obviously a mistake as he got booed on an Anzac Day game). I was responding to Pates more general comment that Melbourne supporters wouldn’t boo a player for being named BOG.

Wow forgot about that I have one to, used to like a port in the old days not sure i'm ready to try it.

Neanderthals booing a player that goes as hard as Oliver for the full 4 quarters is to be expected from that lot

Hopefully it is more incentive for the MFC to crush them later this season and send them out of the finals race

Leaving the ground after the game, walking from MCC to Richmond station, I saw no less than 3 fights involving Collingwood supporters.  In each case police were restraining them and their feral mates still having a go at the police.

Poor coppers must hate having to attend their games......

Same here.   Hawthorn v Collingwood 42,000. Combined membership 160K

                       Melbourne v Collingwood 76,000.  Combined membership 140K

Richmond 21K v Port and not a peep, but she has a crack at us for 29K attending the Freo game.

Completed the sentence.

On a side note, and not sure why I’m playing devil’s advocate to defend Collingwood fans; weren’t they booing more because they wanted Cox to win?

The title of this thread deserves the "Title of the Year" award.

Thanks Sue.

What is the award, dinner for 2 with Caro at the Swan Hotel?

Actually wouldn’t mind having a chat with her about footy.

But was that because of something that happened during the game rather than booing a player for an exceptional game.

I don’t know again if I’m being biased, but I think that a little different. I’m not saying it’s good, and the fans shouldn’t have done that, but booing a fantastic player who’s being singled out for being fantastic seems particularly vindictive.

They also boo’d him during the game because he pushed one of their players off our guys and then got shoved hard for it. Oliver isn’t liked by any oppo fans though, admired as a player but he gets regularly boo’d for no good reason.

Agree. It really is time for Caro to retire permanently. Her opinion pieces have become predictable and her style tiresome. Lately, it feels that she is writing just for loose change and to maintain a journalistic presence both for the paper and for TV.

As I said, it has become tiresome.

I drank mine immediately after the GF, which was always my intention; it was Excellent!

Re. Wilson, the biggest narcists going around. She doesn't talk footy, politics and innuendo are her game, a very ordinary individual

Her fashion sense on FC is always a highlight…

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
