Outstanding effort by the Army on Saturday.  I witnessed first hand how vocal they were in support of our mighty Dees. Although outnumbered (maybe) 500:1, they made themselves heard throughout the match, and at one stage late in the game, the MELBOURNE chant is all you could hear around the ground.  The Crows and their fans were ‘dead & buried’! Loved it!  Well done Army!

I haven't got involved in this thread previously but myself and Mrs Dw are known to many of the Army members. I think it's fair to say that the original poster of this thread has no ..... idea! I believe we have THE BEST cheer squad and supporters in the AFL. I've been to many games in the dark days when we have been outnumbered at home games  and yet have been the loudest. I watched the replay when I got back home and you could clearly hear the "Melbourne" chants over all others. We did our small part on the wing and the "Army" must have influenced me enough for a number of Adelaide fans around us to ask us to shut up. Every time they would try and get something going we would interrupt and counter them. It's fair to say that I can scare small children and Mrs Dw will cover her ears when I really get going. I do have a moderate side and only said quietly; look, they're all starting to leave!

Yes we all commented on how good it was to hear the Cheer squad drowning out the booing and to hear the Lever chant was brilliant. Top effort from Our Cheer Squad in Adelaide .❤️💙

The Lever chant was brilliant! Also love the big white letters and the sign from the Pink Lady game "We love you Mum" - a nice touch. While we're keeping the positives flowing, I've also always been really impressed by the Demon army presence at AFLW games. These days at Casey in particular they create a strong home game atmosphere.

DA are as passionate about the women’s as they are the men’s. 💕Looking forward to making two banners per week come August. Hopefully for the whole of September, too.  🤞🏼 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Given the spirit of the OP and a couple of others posting on this thread, I thought I’d post this as a way of showing how other cheer squads see us in the Demon Army. If our own supporters don’t see our value at least other supporters do…

The OP and fellow detractors oughta take a look at Geelong’s cheer squad. We don’t usually get a good look at our counterparts since we’re usually at the opposite end of the ground. Last night we were an afterthought on the wing. (Which is what happens when you stage a game at a half-baked arena.)
While they were loud, they only have one chant. ONE! And they only strike up after they’ve goaled.

How very petty and unsporting of you WCW to criticise the humble folk of the Geelong cheer squad !!!

That’s me reining it in having let some time pass. Petty and unsporting is as good as it gets.
Besides, easy for you judge while holidaying (aka inflicting yourself on the innocent people of Thailand), basking in the sunshine. You weren’t staring down the barrel of hypothermia while being subjected to that one chant. ONE!

They cut to the cheer squad only once last night in the broadcast. They showed the bloke with the blonde hair going absolutely bananas at the umpire when Hawkins held May and the umps did nothing.

@WalkingCivilWar if you know that bloke tell him he’s a legend. I was doing the same thing at home.

Yeah, that’s Ryan. He’s the best. He gets so worked up yet manages to lead the cheer perfectly despite the heightened emotions.

Will def let him know he’s appreciated!

That’s Ryan, we think he’s a legend, too. And he is. He and Sophie run the cheer squad.

The obligatory angry fan going off at bad umpiring decision (or non decision).  Ch7 got me having one of those moments against the Lions at Metricon at our home game in 2020, that we should have won.

Ryan figures a lot in this type of footage. He’s in a prominent position, he’s fairly conspicuous on account of his hair and he can’t hold back when he doesn’t entirely agree with an umpiring decision. Jack is the young bloke who sits next to Ryan at most matches. He’s the Dogga to Ryan’s Maxy.

Thanks for this background.

I hope Ryan and the team understand how much they are appreciated by the rest of us Dees in the bleaches.   They do a mighty job on behalf of us all. He was conspicuous in the 2018 finals charge on TV and at the time I felt how well deserved those wins were for the DA to appreciate after the past decade of keepng the faith.

Please pass these comments on.

Thanks

Will definitely pass this on, with pleasure. I love and respect these people, so any opportunity to let them know they are appreciated is gold. They don’t do what they do for anything other than a passionate love for our club. They never expect to be thanked. That said, it means a lot to them to hear this great feedback. 💕

Anyone know the blonde bloke in the 'knock off RMs' meme that's been doing the rounds?

Seen him at plenty of WA games over the years despite clearly not being from WA. The most loyal supporter imaginable.

He’s Ryan. He’s one of a group of OGs who run the DA. Pre-covid he didn’t miss a single match in 21 years, including every interstate game and even in China!
And you’re right… he’s loyal and passionate to such a degree, it’s next level. He’s always in the second row at games and he’s one of the three guys who strike up our chants. I’m usually in the third row or front row and his enthusiasm is infectious. And on top of all that, he’s a really nice person. We tease him a little about his hair and about folks wanting to get a selfie with him and he takes it really well. He’s the best.

He reckons that’s not him in that meme, rather it’s his evil twin. 😁 The irony is that he does in fact have a twin, but they look nothing alike.
edit: I pass on every positive comment on DL to him and the others. As for the OP’s thread opener… yeah nah.

Think you couldn’t possibly be any more proud of the MFC? I thought so too. But yesterday proved there’s clearly no ceiling in that respect.

We made two banners yesterday. One for our match vs. Port in Alice Springs next Sunday. The second banner is a very special one…

On the Saturday there’s a game scheduled between two indigenous teams in the very remote community of Santa Teresa, 80km from Alice. The ground at which they play was turned from a dusty wasteland into a proper grassed oval by the MFC having first discovered local kids playing Aussie Rules in the dust in bare feet years ago. The locals call it the ‘MCG of the NT.’ 💕

I don’t know about our players and staff but a significant number of the DA will be there to support both teams and with their awesome banner for both teams to run through. The kids will be thrilled since apparently none of them has had this experience before.

See what I mean? You’re even prouder now, right? ❤️💙

Incidentally, once completed, this is how we get a banner ready for transportation be it by road or by air. It’s amazing how small and compact it becomes…

Yep, it’s the science of… “FOLDING “ 😁

And yes, we get kids to roll the air out.

Tune in for next week’s episode… what happens when a dopey DA member arrives at banner making way too early and sets the alarms off.
To be fair, there’s usually others there before her. So it’s not my fault, oh I mean, it’s not her fault.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
