Dees to win by 9 (democracy) snags.

Gold right there.

To-do list:

  1. Parkrun - check. Got a good time for an older bloke so smugly bragging about it to family
  2. Voting - check. Had a good chat to a local independent candidate who has no chance of winning but is giving it a crack which I admire greatly.
  3. Minestrone soup - in the slow cooker
  4. Clean out the carport gutters, and desludge the bathroom u-bends - TBC after lunch

Then plonk in front of the footy and hopefully:

  1. Ben Brown to kick 10, while smiling and enjoying himself.
  2. Gawn, Petracca and Oliver to take a back seat while Sparrow and Jackson tear the Roos apart.
  3. Pickett and Spargo to cause havoc.
  4. Postgame, get onto Demonland and enjoy gloating about being the best team in the league
  5. Watch whatever game is in TV, knowing neither of the teams is as good as us. Yes, more gloating.

Funny, a lot of North supporters are also planning to desludge their bathroom u-bends, starting from just before 4:30.

Sensing a frustrating game coming up. North to be with 20 points at time and us to win by 35

Although if we are switched on, under the roof and kick straight it could be messy

i think I’ve made myself clear

After too many beers last night I sludged my U-bend earlier!

This weekend we should be playing in Alice Springs, of all rounds, this should be played here

Perfect day for footy here today as well

Just have a feeling TMac is inching back to his best form

The margin will be determined by the level of intensity and pressure the roos bring, and if that level is acceptable how long they can maintain it.

I am extremely confident we will bring our minimum base level of intensity of pressure.

So  If they don't bring it, or do but only for say the first half, then a 100 point hammering is on the cards.

I've voted  - postal vote.

Preparing lentil soup, may sit outside in the sun after that and do the cryptic crossword.

Not going to the match .... hate Doglands and have a commitment tonight (see below). I'm predicting a woeful attendance ... 25,000 is my guess.

Attend Don's Party tonight. (The younger folk in this forum won't understand this reference.)

Hey…

Guess who’s making her banner raising debut today???

I’ll give y’all a clue: ME!

Peeps at the match look out for me. I’ll be the horizontal one, as opposed to the vertical ones, ie the ones who AREN’T lying on the turf having just tripped over.

Don’t tell anyone 🤫 but it has a massive NARRM logo (all of which I cut out!) on one side and a montage of BBB pics (none of which I was allowed near) on the reverse side, and it says Ben Brown 150 Huge Games (!!!!)

Again, Dub, don’t tell a soul!

Ok, who's going to tell WCW about the mistake in the banner? Hopefully she's just written the wrong word on demonland 😅

Might be difficult to take a pic while lying on the turf but I’ll try my damndest. That’s if I can comfortably hold my phone with rope-burnt hands. Again, damndest.  👍🏽

Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

Ten seasons. Eighteen teams. With the young talent pathway finally fully connected, Women’s Australian Rules football is building momentum and Season 2025 promises to be the best yet. In advance of Season 10, the AFL leadership has engaged in candid discussions with all clubs regarding strategies to boost attendance and expand fan bases. Concerningly, average attendances in 2024 were 2,660 fans per match, with the women’s game incurring an annual loss of approximately $50 million.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
