Interesting that Herald Sun has Hawks leading the race, even though they are probably the furthest from a GF.

I think we have bigger needs. Pass from me.

He'd 100% improve us IMO. Genuine winger on each side.

But, not for 650k PA over 5 years...

Agree,  good player.  Great wingman but that money would be better spent on Jordon, Kossie, Sparrow ect

If you asked me 3 months ago, I'd be all in for Amon. But JJ's form stacks up against Amon. JJ averages only 1.5 possies less per game but has kicked more goals.

I'd much rather keep Gus than pursue Amon.

JJ has been excellent this year. He deserves that wing

I wonder how much of our Amon interest is linked to plan B if Brayshaw goes. JJ has been quality and growing into role but if JJ or Langdon were injured who is next up??? I also sense longer term JJ makes his way into the mid rotation. Our game styles requires quality post to post running wingers. Other than a 21-25 year old key forward (which dont grow on trees) I see a mature wing as our most required position still.

I expect he would be 2-3 years from having the engine to play the role.

I'd like to see him on the inside to provide a touch more speed in there!

Amon walks into Hawks midfield.  Hawks have a very good young midfield developing (and backs and forwards) and then will have more low draft picks to top up their talents.

I think Hawks probably offerred more $$$ which helps the decision.

Amon might have got into our best 18 but wouldn’t have been a “ week in week out “ certainty.

So is he saying that if he was a year younger that might have had a first rounder? or that he's 'only' a year older than most free agents?

I don't know enough to know what fair value for Amon or someone in a similar position would be. Once upon a time Polec was apparently worth a first rounder..

Reckon they're in a bit of trouble with their midfield.

Liam Shiels has retired and they're about to lose Tom Mitchell.

Some significant depth right there gutted without any replacement.

Hawks looking to rebuild Mids through Ward, Macdonald and Worpel. Amon helps immediately and likely get young Bailey Humphrey or Sheezel to strengthen even further.

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

One of their last drills were three teams competing in a hard at it, handball game in a small area. Goody

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom
