Interesting comment by Beveridge that coming off a 5 day break and last weeks 'high intensive running' game hurt them last night with fatigue and injuries.  Why play Bontempelli 81% of game time knowing he had injury.   Did they really need to run intensively last week when the game was won?

Sure they got the big % boost vs Ess last week but it possibly cost them a win this week and more injuries for the coming weeks.

He could learn from out strategy and go defensive in the last quarter when we have a good lead, especially knowing they had a 5 day break.

Looks like poor game time management, all round.

One thing that I really noticed in the Port win was their kicking to a leading forward inside 50. I think they had nearly 20 inside 50 marks. It's something that Melbourne has really lost. We kick long to à big pack and rely on Ben browns reach. Would love to see us delivering to a leading forward out in front. I don't think it's our forwards. All of our forwards are capable of a strong lead. I watch and they just hold back and wait for the long bomb. Probably why our forwards aren't kicking bags atm. Thoughts?

Heavy Cairns game and tight last quarter up there appears not to have slowed Port.
Saints also  have extra day.

I’m not buying the Saints will be “buggered tomorrow” narrative.

They’ve had good a 8 day break and the resources put into sports science these days should see them recover just fine.

Agree 100%. But should the Saints lose you can guarantee it will get trotted out by the media.

Impossible to tell from that game. North were as bad as it gets. Freo actually turned the ball over a lot in positions where North should’ve scored but North were just so bad it’s impossible to tell. Freo are on track to play finals. We’ll see whether they’re top four material in the next month when they play GC, Pies, Us and Brisbane. All I got out of this game was that I hope North play that badly against us in round 10. The percentage would be great!

Knowing us, Cunnington will come back, have 55 possessions, kick 11 goals, and we’ll win with a point after the siren. Kicked from right in front in the goal square.

MFCSS strikes again 👀😂💪🤷💙❤️

Bulldogs are bottom 10. I said at the beginning of the year that I thought Port had the best list, apart from us. I still think that they can make a Grand Final. They have a solid A grade midfield, when fully fit!

Could not disagree more, their chance was 2020 and they blew it.

And that is your right, but time shall tell. Their youngsters are fantastic!

Ok, Ken.

You can’t tell some people! Butters, Rozzee etc (All good young players of good character) . Port have a culture of scrapping which the Bulldogs, Essendon etc don’t have right now. I believe that Port will be one of the teams we should respect going forward. But people in Melbourne seem very narrow minded about other peoples ideas and write them off too easily.
Ok. I admit! They gave up too easily to the Bulldogs but Port have been there or thereabouts a for 20 years now. They rarely drop off! They shall be back! We need to be ready for them! Even if they don’t make the Grand Final this year or even the Finals, they shall soon enough!

Howe and Moore have been torn apart by Richmond. Their usual intercept marking has been taken out of the game leaving their defence all at sea. But this game has been lost in Collingwood's forward 50. They can rarely hit their targets.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
