This morning on Whately on SEN Natham Buckley let slip that he was a Dees supporter as a teenager.

Interesting…

Yeah I know but I thought I'd leave that one alone after his charade leaving the Eagles

and darren cuthbertson was one of his favourites

never forget the anzac day he went ballistic - before figjam's filth monopolised the day

Edited by whatwhat say what

Have found the changes in the com box super refreshing. Buckley and Chunk in particular provide great insight without arrogance

I like Buckley all of a sudden. What a good bloke.

Great video, enjoyed watching that immensely.
I remember DC bursting onto the scene and then fizzing out pretty quickly but I am too young to recall any details.

Why is it that he didn't last and go on to have a lengthy career?

Also, how good was the barrell from big Darren B, an NFL audition piece right there.

I always had the impression that Nathan Buckley was a fanatical Collingwood supporter and that is why he left the Brisbane Bears and went to Collingwood?

Either way, I think Nathan Buckley will definitely get another senior coaching gig at an AFL Club. Whether it is at Port Adelaide, Gold Coast, GWS or even North Melbourne we shall have to wait and see. 🤔

I heard that comment, was genuinely suprised.
i wonder what the reasons were that made him so intent on getting to The Filth after his stellar Career as a Bear

bears did a secret deal with the filth well before trade period

said they could pick any 2 players (except for a protected 10) plus get pies first pick (ended up as pick 12 and a scott brother)

was all stitched up before trade week

buckley was ok with this because his priority was a melbourne club and premiership chances

and lol as you know won zero flags at pies whilst bears got the threepeat (filth losing 2 of those gfs)

Ok. I always thought Buckley drove the deal. “I am going to Collingwood, get me there…”

buckley originally got picked bears via zoning concession. didn't want to go. stood out for a year playing sanfl for port.

bears then did a deal promising him an out (in 1 year) if he came to them, hoping they could turn him around.

but buckley stayed determined to get to a melb club so bears starting talking to clubs looking for best deal

afl (and everyone) was unaware of deal brewing with filth

p.s. because it was all stitched up before trade week and was a secret buckley went into the trade period claiming he just wanted to go to collingwood. obviously he was happy to go to collingwood because they had offered him a motza and bears had the trade details all locked up.

I knew all the scenario with him standing out of Football for a year etc, i was sure he was also adamant that it was Collingwood or bust after those 2 years at the Bears.
why wasn’t he interested to be a Demon, considering what he said on Radio this morning?

You don't have to like him but is it really necessary to refer to him as filth?

i doubt he was a real invested demon fan

as a kid he lived all over australia but i don't think victoria

like most interstate kids he would have had his best favourite local team where he lived and picked melbourne as a sort of quasi vfl team as the vfl was seen as the heart of footy (he was already 18 when the vfl became the afl)

but that's just a bit of a guess

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
