Grand final replay was the only way Gil could justify a Wednesday Night game. It was all about & and Foxtel.

The betting agencies made $Millions on Wednesday night

Game over already.

how do the Cats do it every year? They are missing 5 from their 22 too

Because Chris Scott is a very good coach (as well as being very dislikeable)

Ha just looked on social media. Essendon fans saying we look bottom 4, thanks waited 6 months & you play like this & just angry😂

What lol

Adelaide were 2 goals up at quarter time and only 2 goals down at at half time. They were absolutely right in the game going into the 3rd quarter.

The GWS game is absolutely no different to the Hawthorn's 2014 gran final. Both games were were over at quarter time.

All Hawthorn's grand finals the opposition were pretty much done in the first quarter.

We could argue all day Daz

You rate Richmonds 3 in 4 years. I rate it a distant 3rd to Brisbane (1) Whorethorn (2)

Hawkins could kick ten today. Essendon struggling to account for his size and strength.

He might beat Buddy to 1000 goals if this keeps up

Geelong are averaging a shot on goal every 8th disposal.

you read that correctly

Not sure why people are upset at Geelong doing well.

I get a great amount of joy watching them fail badly every September for the last decade and will be glad to see it happen again this year

Essendon have at least stemmed the flow, but they have no firepower in their forward line to kick anything resembling a winning score.

If you are going to get flogged like this might as well play at KP; at least you have an excuse.

It's hilarious watching Essendons preseason hopes and dreams turn to dust. they are getting brutalised

Don't we know about that. Its 21 scoring shots to 6. I think we'll lose top spot

Geriatric cats doing what they do best, beating up on young kids early in season.

It doesn't take the bomber flogs long to put the boots in !

Just took this of 'Blitz

"what, exactly did we see in rutten when he was given the job as coach, cause, so far today, he has been well and trully outclassed and coached by Scott."

And yes, I reckon "trully" says it all!

Cats players must have had an extra bowl of tapioca pudding at the nursing home last night.

Cats will run out of puff later in the season. They always start pretty good.

But I’m pretty surprised at how bad Essendon is. They are making the cats look better than they are.

Hmmm… what to do… 🤔

catch up on work that should’ve been done during the week. Or…

Continue to watch Essendon cop a jolly good rogering.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
