Worst case scenario we are in the eight after the first round.

Might have gone to early.

Carlton have been building a very good list with a lot of talent

After 39 years being rubbish, you’d hope so

Nope we have three points on them. Would hate them to have been higher even for only one week.

Provided Carlton don’t play Essendon next week, I will be hoping they lose something shocking. I really don’t won’t to see them gain too much confidence and seeing and hearing their supporters tonight just reminds me how much I hate them.

Still on top - for now.  136.6%. CFC 132.95

I really hope hardwick goes the full Beveridge in the presser.

Well that was interesting.  Carlton are clearly still lacking in some class and execution under pressure, but their workrate and contested work was first class.  They were the width of a post away from blowing that game right out.

Also, good on their fans for singing the song like that when they won.  First time in a decade they've won in round one and they deserve to celebrate it.

One thing for sure - they won't get 28 frees to 20 next week - they play the Bulldogs.

Dustin Martin looks cooked. Down rated to good ordinary player.  Richmond can’t play tempo footy.

Walsh to come back in as well… they’re interesting the Blues this year… god I hope they finish 9th.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
