Not ideal but an adequate replacement in Hunt

Certainly not like for like but can cover in his absence.

Still a loss - I can see Riv being top 5 in the comp for the position and role that he plays.

Hopefully it's just the 3-4 weeks and we see him back by round 2-3.

Seems likely that Hunt will get the nod to fill River's spot in the 22. Looking forward to seeing what Jayden can produce this year. Was back to his best last season and definitely would've featured in our GF squad had he not injured himself late in the year.

Quite possibly.

But riv's injury also gives them option of playing both Tomlinson and Smith  with Smith taking riv's running hb role and tomo Petty’s role.

As long as it’s not the dreaded 426 he’ll be fine.
Hunt didn’t just get back to his previous best last season he far exceeded it

Hunt is definitely the better like-for-like with his pace / run & carry etc

Smith no doubt is very capable in the air & his athleticism is a strength of his... but i do cringe at the thought of seeing him do anything else but spoiling / intercepting

Hunt all day for me.

I'm more worried about May's "tightness".

He's always had soft tissue injury concerns.

I would guess that given he played with a 6cm hamstring tear in the GF, they are just being extra cautious.

A hamstring  strain would only require 2 weeks anyway and it'll be 3 weeks from last week's game to round 1. Can't see him missing.

Both he and Hibbo are in old man territory now.

I am personally much more concerned about Salem.

I want Burgo back.

Not sure if serious or sarcastic but Burgo's a genuinely horrible loss and really bad luck on our part that he only left due to family reasons.

Only a 6cm tare, he'll be right👍🏽

Showed last night why he's a significant loss for us.

Rivers not only plays a good lockdown role but gives us good speed and long kicking off half back.

The likes or Hunt, Baker and Smith failed to grab their opportunity last night.

Agreed.  Rivers has both the ability to lockdown but also rebound. Big loss. But hopefully Hunt can step in and find his 2021 form with good run and carry.

Unfortunately we won’t have the same 22 for ‘22 round 1 as we had for the premiership winning 2021.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
