I find Watchafl to be the most frustrating service.

The games live are fine, but on replay they edit out all content between quarters and even now trim time after goals.

They now cut as much of the channel 7 coverage as possible, switching back to the Foxtel team in a sad studio nowhere near the game.

Do Foxtel management even watch afl?

I’m going to try the @Hatchmansolution

Edit: Do you remember how much time passed between buying your membership and receiving that email?

I’ve just had a look in my emails and can’t find it sorry, my first membership payment came out my account at the start of November and I remember I set up WatchAFL in the middle of December, but not sure when the actual email arrived.

All of the above is why its so good!

Last year when holidaying in Croatia I used Watch AFL app on my phone and it was good for live matches with decent resolution (same as if watching Kayo in Australia).

Thanks No.31, my friend (yes @layzie, my friend, as in, NOT me) was just wondering how to access it. But BritishDemonFan kindly advised.

Of course!

Probably goes without saying what I said but I felt like saying it anyway 😀

For the price WatchAFL has to rank as one of the worst platforms in modern sport streaming.

It's almost designed to fail. One has to wonder if it's run by the same people who designed the new VFL competition.

I think this is relevant to the topic.

Last week,  a Dees tragic on way to Europe on Cunard's Queen Victoria, mid- Indian Ocean, sat back in a lounge on board and watched a live stream of the match.

Last night I watched Cats lose in Shenzhen China on Star Sports. Good coverage apart from Ch7 commentary.

missing todays game as on a plane. Fingers crossed.

Would have been a BT Sports feed I expect.

I wish the AFL would publish what it receives for overseas rights. It wont be much but I think we'd be surprised by how little it is. My guess is that they would do a lot better not relying on the foreign cable/streaming companies and upgrading the Watch AFL platform.

At present Watch AFL is afterthought

Not doing much for cliches about Melbourne supporters with this story.

I never got the email with my code, but emailed the club and received it within 24 hours.

Also I can’t believe the complaints about WatchAFL in here. It comes free with the digital membership, it never lags, it’s good quality and you get all the fox footy programming. I love it.

@WalkingCivilWar the email should arrive the same day as the membership confirmation

He just messaged to tell me he got the email and the code which great coz he’ll get to watch us embarrass the Lions. 😁

GO THE MIGHTY DEES!!!!!

Very Good point, but the passenger is a demon tragic like all of us in the true sense of the word and has 60 years of following us. Saved every penny for the trip.

It has been the highlight so far  appaarently.

Never been skiing though and drives a beat up holden.

Last year I had a couple of amazing overseas Dees watching experiences:

- I watched Melb v Carlton while on the ferry from Kennacraig to Islay. There were definitely some fellow travellers who were confused by this very excited Aussie in a red and blue beanie.

- I watched the QF in a bar in Berlin with a fellow demonlander and a bunch of other random Aussiules who showed up. The live stream in the bar was terrible, so I played it on WatchAFL on my phone and mirrored the screen to one of the TV's in the bar. A surprisingly effective solution.

And yesterday I watched Dees v Brisbane on WatchAFL in my hotel room in LA, as a replay just after the game finished, not knowing any of the events or scores. Watching back all the delays and confusion, wanting to skip forward but not wanting to miss news on what happened or Max's knee, was a bizarre experience.

I have been using it for 6 years or so and have literally never had 1 issue. I think its great. Fox footy shows everyday, all live games and replays. No buffer probs. Not sure what else you want?

The site is primarily web based with an app that has not been updated in years. It broadcasts one sport in 720p at a price other streaming services charge for 4k with lots more content. Compared to other single sport streaming services the similar NFL app is less than a third the cost and the formula 1 app is even cheaper

To say it's free with you overseas membership is a misnomer as the club will be paying the provider for your subscription.

In short it's over priced and ten years behind the times.

It has a monopoly in a very small pool so it seems we can expect little more

GO THE MIGHTY DEES!!!!!

Well, at least he didn’t have to watch the Lions embarrass us, which was on the cards pre-power outage. 😅

He, my (former-Demonlander) buddy watched our match on a plane to Sri Lanka and wasn’t sure which out of two things was the worst… The Dees losing or no freeze booze on the plane. 😭

How did it go No10? I am away from 6 weeks from Anzac eve in Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore? I don't particularly want to pay fro Watch AFL given I am already paying for Kayo.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
