Really good insight into the person that is our club president. What an amazing leader. Kate speaks very well: no bulls**t, just clear and direct.

We are blessed with some fine people doing the important work in the background setting us up for continued success.

Every time I hear Kate Roffey speak I love her more.

I've heard reliably she wasn't even concerned in the 3rd when we down because she thought we had the best team, the best coach and the best captain.

I'm backing she will get us the best facilities.

She admitted in an earleir interview that after Bailey Fritsch's goal in the 3rd roved off the back of the pack, putting us 1 goal down, she leaned across the Gary Lyon who was siiitng close to her and said "... Gary, wev'e got this..."

Was super confident at the time.

Kate Roffe has bought another layer to our great club, very impressed with her personal and business life, so down to earth and has such a great understanding of what it takes to be successful. Her understanding of Belief and how it needs to flow top down and bottom up once you have the right mix of all the key ingredients to succeed. What a champion person Kate Roffe is.💕❤️💙

Jeez guys lets keep this in perspective.  A cardboard cut out would have made a successful Prez this year. Kate is very lucky with her timing.

She sounds like an intelligent, reasonable person & I hope she goes down as one of our best ever but up to now everything has been easy. Lets give it a few years before we judge.

Agree. The hard yards were already done. She’ll have plenty of time to earn respect and get credit where it is due. She appears to be the right person to help land us new training facilities- which would really set the club up for a long time.

Sorry CF but I was admiring Kate for her past achievements as well as her 8 years on the Board and how she understands what it takes to be successful.

No need to apologise to anyone, esp CF, DeeZone. Your'e spot on IMO.

8 years on the Board means she was involved in all key issues of the re-build, Roos, Pert, Marketing, Goodwin extension, stability and cohesion, financil position after selling gaming venue ....etc.

What on earth was easy in 2021?

She has been on the board for 8 years already, but of course that means nothing….

The previous president wanted to oust Goodwin from my reliable sources and it was a non-starter from the board and particularly Roffey.

Not many cardboard cutouts can do that.

Well that would have depended on how Goodwin went in 2021. It was the make or break year for him. He had been coach for 4 year with 1 successful year & 3 failed years.  Failure in 2021 & obviously the knives would have been out.

Just trying to keep things in perspective. The Board under Bartlett including Kate R was pretty good but some of the fawning has been over the top. Maybe its understandable in a Flag year.

Absolute ignorance. A cardboard cut out could have captained us on Grand Final day as well. It was a collective effort from the President down

Why do you need to keep things in perspective?

Kate is The President, Glen stepped down. She has been on the Board for 8 years, she is not exactly new to her surroundings

Kate speaks well for the most part and nice to hear her finally acknowledge Bartlett. Just wish she would stop squeezing in mentions of her own achievements when she speaks.

Yes, she seems great in this position and speaks well. However imo she will be judged in the end on her capacity to get a home base across the line.,

Couldn't disagree more with this.

It was early 2021 when Kate stepped into the role, in the difficult circumstances of Glen Bartlett's surprise departure.  At that time the pressure was on the MFC big time as we didn't have any runs on the board.  My view is that in being able to handle that transition in the almost seamless way that it appeared to the outside world and provide that off feild stability over the season was an important factor (obviously not that only factor) in our sucess this season.

Contrast that somooth leadership handover with the chaos at clubs like Collingwood, Hawthorn and Carlton this season and the correlation to on feild performance as well.

It's long been understood that on feild sucess also requires strong and compedent off feild management/leadership.  My observations as a realitive outsider is that we have finally got the offeild stuff right.  Sure Kate can't take all the credit, but it looks to me that she's a pretty important ingredient.

As much as I never overly warmed to him, I personally acknowledge and give credit to a job well done by Glen Bartlett.  Glen was rarely in the headlines and his background as a West Coast man, never particularly inspired me, but during his tenure, there was realitive stability, some good off field decision making and appointments and the gracious way which Glen appeared to step down was a testament to that.  Quite conversely, one of the things I really like about Kate as a president is the way she wears her passion for the club on her sleave and the more public approach she takes putting the MFC on the map, but not in the OTT totally one eyed way of an Eddie.

I think she could just have the right approach for the era we are beginning.

I have a feeling she keeps talking about the billion dollar project she oversaw around the tennis precinct because she can't tell us what is going to happen at our home base under confidentiality restraints. But she is just letting us know she will get the job done.

I'm backing her in.

To support this, Gary Pert made an interesting statement in this article a couple of weeks ago where he touched on the Gosch's paddock upgrade and new facilities - seems there is a design already drawn up:

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2021/12/06/melbourne-to-announce-big-profit-in-2022-ceo-provides-update-on-new-training/

“We’ve been training for many, many years basically on a junior football oval, now for us to be on an MCG size oval by the time we start the season next year, that’s our first step.

“By the time we get to that point hopefully we’re a lot further down the track with the State Government and the AFL on our broader facility.

“I’ve seen the designs, it looks magnificent and that’s progressing and it’ll be worth the wait in the end.”

Maybe we should start an Is Kate Roffey the Right Gal? thread.

Once Kate Roffey has finished the overseeing of our new home base I would love her to mentor Daisy.

Wouldn't surprise me if she already was. But I have no inside info on that.

You are confident that one will happen this Decade Wrecker?

Very generous ... could also be that the reason she has no update is because there is no update or progress ... which is the more likely scenario ... having said that l have faith they are doing as much as they can and the govt have many priorities

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
