We usually rate players by their on field performance rather than the fact the club may or may not have wanted to select another player that may or may not suit the role of the player we have.

    GWS must think that Toby Greene is a "jobber" too then with their continued intetest in small forwards.

    They have a heap of small forwards.... think we should organise a raid of one of them end of 2025 or 2026 actually.

    Plenty of Vic boys there and they can't play them all.

    I think burst is more important for a footballer given the lack of space and Kade did a 3.06 20m in his draft year.

    I'm not entirely convinced by a one off GPS number, especially at the SCG in opening round, but if he truly does have that elite top end speed I hope we see it more often. I can't remember a time when Chandler was in a foot race and completely burnt his opponent, where as Windsor and Pickett it comes through in their games.

    Remember listening to an interview with Windsor last year where he was asked whether he was the quickest player at the club.

    I'd like to see a race. Chandler might be coming through like Gout Gout. Even more impressive given the wind resistance his chin must cause.

    Kynan did brilliantly in the time trial

    And his game saving cameo against the Roos during the year shows that he has the tools. Would like to see him get a run at it

    He is quick. You don’t have to like him but blaming his lack of speed isn’t a reasonable reason to dislike him.

    In terms of Brown's speed, if he plays a role similar to nibblas role, the critical thing is not acceleration (ie burst speed, or speed off the mark) it's what they call striding speed - ie ability to cover ground, say 80 to 130 metres, at a really good clip.

    And then the other factor is their ability to do multiple such sprints all game- which is where the need to also have elite aerobic capacity and endurance comes in. 

    I think at least a couple of players could play a similar role at any one time ie it's not inconceivable Brown AND Sharp could play in the same team playing much the same role.

      I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.
