I visited the Sports Museum today. Had to queue for about 40minutes to get the photo but it was well worth it.  We went full footy nuff 😂

This with MFC Memberships had to put MFC before the numbers to get it to work. I’m not sure how it works for AFL memberships but give that a try.

I tried imputing MFC then 6 digit AFL membership number and keep getting message saying I have input an invalid membership number. In frustration, I have paid the $30 and will try to get a refund.

Got my free ticket and plan to head to the G early doors on Sunday morning to try and avoid a long queue as I just want to get in and out with a photo to show for it. I wonder how early that will have to be though.

Ah this one brought a couple of tears to my eyes. So glad you got to share it with your dad for those of us who can’t.

You look a lot happier in the updated photo than the other one Cass. Was that after a loss before 1987 ? We had some shockers . Good for you .

Do you mind me asking what date the photo was taken Cass? The person smiling ( we must have won!) at the back of you looks very much like me.

I’d say likely. The woman in the recent photo was clearly not that age in 1987

The photo was circa 1987/88, in the old red seats area.

My Dad had a mate who was a sports photographer and he yelled up from the boundary for us to stand up and take a photo.  I was mortified because the entire section turned around to stare at us.  Which is the reason for the grumpy face 😁

If it goes to Borewood first dc , I can only assume alphabetical order rather than any sort of qualitative criteria is being employed.

As to taking the lads and the maid, I am assuming that will be unnecessary as said cup will visit The Manor first.

She has already a collection so may have got it from the online methods! Not all are waiting for all of their choices as delays on one or two items are resulting in a wait fir a full package.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
