Imagine we got Serong or Young cause Freo freak out about West Coast.

Lols.

Please allow it to happen.

We would already have Young if we hadn't wasted pick 3 on this turkey

Unlike you, I will not be accepting mediocrity in any trade, 2 first round picks or a top 5 pick and one of their best young players.

Unfortunately we supporters don't get a say. And the reality is that no uncontracted player has ever been traded for a top 5 pick and gun young player who wasn't named Chris Judd.

If WC's pick 2 (3) isn't the centrepiece of the deal, it will likely be Freo's 2 first round picks (2022 & 23) and steak knives.

I'd rather pick 2.

For you or anyone else, does pick 2 ensure we get Cadman? Who do North look at picking up if it isn't a Cadman/A KPF? Are there are no standouts besides Ashcroft who's off to the [censored] Lions?

Yeah right, except when we play Flogmantle. Go away Melissa, we don't need your patronisation.

Our teams need some new young blood so I’d be focusing on draft picks. A young winger, a tall fwd, quick skilful mid. Could extend our window

I'm disappointed, but neither surprised nor angry.

Let's just get the best possible haul for him and move on.

Bit more to it than that. We need to clearly define trading requirements on our young players. Kosi could be next.

Sheezel, Wardlaw and Tsatas would all be in the mix, but you're right in that Cadman to North is a real possibility.

If we get pick #2 from West Coast I would split that into two separate first round draft picks.

The first one (ideally a top 5 pick) we use on someone like Aaron Cadman from the North Ballarat Rebels.

The second first round pick we give to Collingwood for Brodie Grundy and for them to pay half his salary.

That would be the best ideal scenario.

His mother’s comments only further solidify my thinking that Jackson is not making the decisions, his family is. It annoys me no end that this was clearly always on the cards for Jackson and yet we missed out on Cerra last year when Freo had a much better trade position.

WA is a fishbowl. Very few go back on giant contracts and with big expectations and succeed. Kelly. Hogan. The list goes on and on.

Pick 2 should get us Cadman. North would take best mid available IMO.

“How do you feel about Lever ? I'm sure you loved that he came to us.”

And I’m sure Adelaide fans didn’t. The discussion here is not about how Freo/WCE supporters feel about getting Luke Jackson.

“And what do you know about Luke's situation. Nothing I imagine.”

Is that really a prerequisite for feeling disappointed? Are we expected to know the personal goings-on of all players before being allowed to feel let-down?

We pay our memberships, and the kids are paid untold amounts of money themselves, so we can skip the whole “getting to know you” process, and treat this for what is - mass entertainment.

“Supporters get way too caught up in emotionality about an individual they know nothing about.”

No, they do know about him. They know that he’s a guy we drafted three years ago, who we elevated to the heights of AFL glory and who collected a Rising Star for himself along the way, and now he wants to go home where he’ll get paid more than what we can afford, and that’s all they need to know in order to form an opinion about him. This is footy, not Oprah

It’s perfectly acceptable to be ticked-off that this guy is leaving, for the exact same reasons we were so jubilant that Trac and Clarry signed on for life. Club loyalty is a quality which has become more and more unique to our game, and I for one see this decision - after merely three years - undeserving of any kind of admiration.

Across the 215 pages (god help us) on this topic, there’s been a lot this “you don’t know his situation” lecturing towards people who dare suggest they’re unhappy about this. It’s not like anybody is planning to actually harass Luke Jackson or give him a piece of their mind beyond this forum. If I ever met the guy I’d express my gratitude for the ‘21 cup and happily leave it at that. But you’ve got to allow people express their frustration, disappointment and even anger (within reason) if the only reason not to is because “there might be something you don’t know”.

Great post some on here want to tell people how they should feel

The fact that I know SFA about the top draft prospects this year puts the disappointment of losing a semi final in perspective.

I hope Luke and his family are fully aware just how absolutely brutal the WA supporter base and media can be.

There is some genuine frustration and anger already from Freo supporters with the players that are being pushed out to fit this guy in alone.

It's going to take a while for Freo/WC supporters to warm up to him because of the high expectations they'll have on purely from how much draft capital they've had to give up.

Obviously I don't know what personal factors might be part of his decision, but on the face of it it seems a strange choice by Jackson if you ask me.

To add to your point about the fish bowl he is about to jump into, Jackson is going to have to make one of the longest internal national flights in the world every second week ie Perth to the east coast.

Five hour round trip in a plane would be hard core for a player his size. I remember hearing pavlich say that was the toughest part of his career (amazing he played 300 plus games).

Surely the smart play was a two year contract, eek out whatever success he could at the dees, learn the craft under maxy, and then head home if still keen.

He’s 20yo ffs if he’s a family man then so be it. He clearly was distracted this year I have no Ill will towards it at all. If anything we should of done more due dillegence on it

SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
