A must watch from AFL360 last Monday. Spine chilling

Yeah, a bloody brilliant run down. Dunstall really struggling. Like many Hawthorn people, he can barely hide his disdain.

I thought I was getting over it and then I yell PETRACCA!!!!

(cant stop)

I do that every morning when I greet the boys at work 😂
They reply by yelling "OLIVER".
And I give 'em the 1 finger salute.

Keep the post alive.

It was sensational.  What a game.
That last 45 minutes of footy was the most exciting in the last 49 years of supporting the Dees.

Go Dees.

That's a lot of protein.

AFL experts got 98% wrong.

Only one tipped the Dees to finish in the finals and 8th.

Most predicted the Kangas for wooden spoon which was a blind Freddy obvious prediction !!

Only one of AFL.com writers in the preseason predicted we would make the finals this year. And was for only 8th spot.

Had a look at player stats in relation to their career best, with some interesting findings

- Clarrie 21 uncontested possessions, 2 short of his highest

- Tracc career high possession total, contested possessions, equal high inside 50s (as expected)

- Sparrow career high goal assists, inside 50s

- Brayshaw career high 1 percenters

- Salem equal career high inside 50s

- ANB equal 4th best game disposals and 2nd highest handball count

- Jackson career high goal assists

- Fritsch equal 2nd career high goals of course

- BBB equal 3rd highest frees for (which is saying something given his NM days)

It was always going to happen as far as I'm concerned.
Guns all over the ground with the Premiership in front of them.
There was no way the Dogs were gonna cope.

Maybe covered already but...

From 1 min to go in 3rd until 18 min to go in 4th

3 mins of elapsed time. Stats:

MELB: 13 K, 11 HB, 2 Mk, 5 Goals

WB: 1 HB

I should add, Viney 2nd career high clearances with 12. Two short of career best 14

Was looking at some stats and noticed Sparrow only had 66% game time.

He played a blinder. Really like his hardness and he kicks like a mule.

Watched that succession of clean centre clearances from mid third term and in the 4th again and Viney was pivotal I thought, a toe poke forward here, a pickup and handball to a receiver on the move there. Oliver, Petracca and Jackson are the obvious ones running full speed out of the centre square to bury the Dogs in an amazing blitzkrieg but Viney was vital contesting the ball and getting it moving our way, he out did Libba there.

That frenetic contest at the ball in the centre given we had a dominant ruckman and several inside bulls and ball magnets, was what I was hoping we would get from the start with Yze coming in this season. But I don’t remember seeing centre clearance dominance that much during the year, in fact we at times outplayed in that area by lowly sides and covered that with intercepts at half back and attacked from there. But it did all came together in the finals series. Would love it if it becomes the norm next year which would see us hitting the scoreboard big time.

Yep, he played a blinder of a finals series. Really came of age.

Trade bait no more, he can add a fair bit to our team going forward.

Kicks like a mule with finesse.
He's a ripper.

Particularly liked his long goal duringour blitz, his longkick to the advantage of BB and his kick to Fritta in the goal square in the first qtr

Clever and skillful

Also put through a couple set shots during the finals.
Never looked like missing.

Anyone quietly happy that the celebrations were forced to finish just half a week in as most of the club headed back to VIC? Now the boys     can already focus on 2022.

I’ll never forget Jared Roughead commenting that after their 2008 flag, Hawthorn returned to pre season with an extra player in terms of added skin-fold and proceeded to have a complacent 2009 and somehow missed the finals after their breakthrough flag.

No club that has broken their major drought  (Sydney, Hawthorn 2008 Geelong, Dogs and Richmond) has gone back to back.

That goal in the 3rd was of hardly one step. More like half a step. And it went 55m. Amazing

Of all the stats on here, this is one of the best, and thinking about it seems almost impossible.

24 possessions and 5 goals?

BT mentioned another  short period during tha game that Oliver and Petracca combined stats equalled the whole dogs team.

Bailey Smith now a fan, singing along to grand old flag 🤣

That maybe true BBP but I don’t think any team recently has won the premiership after they won the minor premiership (not that I am aware of) either UNTIL WE DID.

Nothing stopping us from going back to back except ourselves. 🏆

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
