The one thing I think we can all agree on, is that Jonesy is a team player. He has put in loads of work into his body and I have no doubt he wouldn’t be putting his hand up in what he knows is the most important two games in our recent history, if he didn’t think he could make it through.
He wants to win a flag as much as anyone, and if he does play he will absolutely give us everything he has left in the tank.

OK.  Good pick up.

I still have a funny feeling he'll be named.  Probably nothing...

There was talk that Henderson was going through a fitness test today.

we can only hope he makes it through the fitness test!

All this talk of the sub, I'm not that interested to be honest.  On most occasions this year we have not used the sub and hopefully that trend continues.

I hope you're right. He would be a good sub option.

And a bit of romanticism might add some magic.

And I reckon goody likes a bit of magic

They have been playing match sims and regardless of who is the sub they are pretty much in the same position

Really surprised by Zach Guthrie who a mate of mine has suggested (Jeelong) that if he plays ut plays right inro our hands!! I DEFINATELY would have played Hunt over Hibberd easily and I hope this doesnt end in tragedy! Hunt not even on extended bench???? Dont like it one bit. JONES to be medical sub take  it to the bank!

Yep, Hunt is vital to so many of our yardage clearances, and in catching opponents on the trot with the ball, striving for some glory. This is a blow to our potential to rip the Cats apart. His linkage work with the backline, the outside mids and into the forward line is going to be missed.

Hibberd may well be spent by 3/4 time.

If we go with Jones this week, barring something unforeseen, we pretty much have to go with him next week given the twins on the way.  I'm not feeling it.

Simple change, I agree with it. I was an advocate for Hunt being the sub as I feel like he provides more versatility, but Jordon has been the sub before and come on to play well so I'm comfortable with it.

Shame for Smith, big chance for Hibberd.

Ok now I gotta go vomit from the nerves (again!).

Yes, I'm confident we'll win.  Put simply, our best is better.

We have three top 10 players in the league, the best defence (historically very significant), they're tough, and our stars are now in their prime.

Of course, there are no guarantees, but there are also no excuses.

And as for the absence ?

I like arguing.  What's there been to argue about this year ?

We miss Jack Watts in this team.

Agree?

This has probably been posted elsewhere on here and it's obviously an initiative of the club but anyways.  This is the wrap going on the 'Bus West' Demon Bandwagon bus for tomorrow...

We should all give up football and instead follow track and field.  Discus.

Weideman vs Tmac. Discuss.

Who is more important, Clarry or Trac?

Is Jackson a forward?

Demonland is never short of an argument. But this place has been unusually chipper in recent weeks. Sickening really.

Needs less teeth.

The sub is always somewhat of a contingency gamble, striking the balance between flexible coverage in the event of an early injury and a player who can impact if an injury comes in the later stages during a tight contest.

I don't trust him, but Melksham probably best fits the bill for both eventualities. Jones can provide flexible coverage but with probably limited impact, while Chandler could impact but without significant four-quarter coverage.

Both can be liabilities though. And then there's Jordon. If a KPP goes down at either end, Gawn will most likely have to shoulder the extra load. So then it revolves around any midfield injuries and mostly supporting rotations.

My heart says Jones, naturally, while my head says Melksham and my inner-accountant says Jordon. My cocky cowboy however wants Chandler. I see a lot in the kid, and can envisage him causing Geelong some problems if he came on late.

Will Schofield is a [censored] but the insight into how West Coast treated us with absolute disdain in 2018 is interesting.

The story is an intetesting piece of self promotion. Look how clever we were.

The heart of the story is really about schofields propensity for his own mental scarring and fears on gf day.

In that gf in 18 josh Kennedy dragged them over the line.

Schofields gf record:?

In 2015 gf. 5 kicks in 92% tog

In 2018 gf 7 kicks in 100% tog

Huge contibutory gf record - not.

Good read though.

Just went and bought all the requisite snacks and drinks for tomorrow night now, so no need to be out in public in the lead-up to the game. My local Woolies had boxes of Cheezles on special for $1, which I haven't eaten since 1988, so I took it as a redemptive omen. Should make any Gawn-yawn interesting though if I lose my nerve before kick-off.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
