Old Lingy shouldn’t trust anyone from Geelong ever again, the story about his leasing the Cunningham Pier from The golden boy Frank Costa is brutal. He had to sell the house to cover his debts.

Sounds like he was very poorly advised and probably signed up because the Costa's were involved.

Make sure Folks you have proper financial and legal advice before signing contracts and be very careful about doing business with friends and acquaintances. Very harsh life lesson for Ling

Very harsh one to learn! Gives a new slant to the old Frankie was a great guy narrative too…

Interesting background Cards.

The Costas were approved Lessees of the Pier from the Crown under a before-the-time unheard of 99 year lease developed under the Kennett govt. The lease is 3 volumes long I am told.

This lease underpinned the pier develoments which to this day I have no idea why they are patronised. The Pier is really nothing more than an unsightly carpark with a gawdy building on the end killing all sightlines. Kennett was repsonsibibel for a fabulous re-build of the Geelong foreshore. This Pier works allowed under the lease was not a component of tha.

I now feel sorry for Lingy and hope he can recover from this. It would have been hugely stresful.

That's so sad for Lingy. He was 'lauded' as a successful businessman, but obviously dropped the ball on this one.

He is also apparently a top bloke.

So much suffering ATM. I feel so sorry for Lingy, and everyone else facing financial (and other) distress.

He'd pat himself on the back wouldn't he? The rise began with his coaching tenure. 🤮

Technically true. The rise began the day Jackson called Neeld to tell him to take a walk from AAMI Park to his office at the G...

A lesson in diversifying investments. Nothing is without risk and it is crazy to put so much into a project that your house is on the line (even if you think it is low risk). The height of stupidity.

Really hope Mark Neeld was commentating on K-Rock again

I think Neeld is up for appointment as Scott’s replacement.  After all, anything that can go wrong at KP, he has seen and felt.

Stanley won't sleep for months. Darryl Cullinan vs Shane Warne type scaring

I reckon Captain Gawn might have taken exception to Stanley getting coaches votes in Rd 23. 😉

Give me the simple life thank you very much. I would never want to put myself through the stress of a big investment or owning a business. Sure the payoff could be great, but if it goes wrong your life can be absolute hell.

Easy money Frank would have said, “Lingy, trust me mate, I’ve got your back… just sign here”.

Chook it’s finding the balance and doing your research/finding good people to bring around you/give you advice.

I’ve got mates who all they do is look for deals and do very well out of it. I’m pretty conservative only because I know my limitations and not willing to invest that time to learn/or not smart enough lol.

Do we know what their virus 🦠 is yet?

Have we been infected by them? Or was it just that they were too old

First lesson: Steer clear of guys with shifty surnames.

Costa and Shokman aren't even subtle as far as pantomime villain last names go.

Messers Rippov and Forklous are next.

No virus I would not believe anything Scott says, he is always ready with excuses, could not look straight into the camera

When I walk into work on Tuesday I don’t care what their excuses are, my grin will speak a billion words.

What about that reporter's name?  Rusty Woodger?  Come on now ...

Have they worked out who nailed Gary Rohan to the ground?

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
