Absolutely love Heilung. Krigsgaldr from LIFA does it for me.

Agree, Krigsgaldr was my first discovery of theirs, amazing.
thought this clip had a better ritualistic element though!

Your fingers have to be moving about as fast as kozzy while he's sprinting to play that piece.  Great choice!

Keeping with your analogy, maybe Geri-long should run out onto the field to Chopin’s Piano Sonata no. 2 in B-flat minor. Commonly known as the “Funeral March.” 😆

To start the day - Ministry, Jesus Built My Hotrod.

I’m hoping - Sticky Fingers, Land of Pleasure.

For Father’s Day, my son sent me an early mix of a song his band were recording just before lockdown.  Although not the intent, the lyrics seemed to resonate with the current plight of being a Dee’s supporter.

(aw, who am I kidding. It’s just a shameless plug for his band!)

Anyway, this is what I’m currently listening to.

I need help please. How do I import an MP3 file from Dropbox? I can play it fine from Dropbox, but when I load it here it doesn’t seem to want to play.

One of the great Brissie bands Giants of Science - Here comes the Punishment

For the umpires, you can't go past Cosmic Psychos and their Wonderful intro. Language warning...

When we win, who else but Falco from future of the left (close to my favourite band in the world) could sing a song about an anti gay sex politician who gets caught in a sex scandal with teenage boys and... About his cat named Colin.

Kozzy Pickett and Little Richard. What a player, what a voice!

This Arvo, I'm going to sit down and try and make a fist of this song on guitar. Everlong by the foo fighters..seems apt for us Dee's supporters.

Only bought Cuelty re-issue on vinyl a few weeks ago.

2021 hasn’t been a great year for metal truth be told.

New Maiden is out which is getting me by for now. Bloated but my all time favourite band.

Hooded Menace - The Tritonus Bell is an absolute ball tearer.

Urne - Serpent & Spirit wipes out small villages.

If all else fails Bolt Thrower. It’s all about Bolt [censored] Thrower.

There's not much modern music I get into, mainly hip hop - its starting to feel like rock (or metal/doom etc) really is dead 😞 I'll have to give a listen to those you've mentioned.

I love Cruelty & the Beast, I could listen to that album on a loop - really like Midian as well though I've struggled to get into any of their other stuff. I think it's the concepts of those two albums that get me hooked. I'm not a huge black metal fan but when albums are as good as those two its hard not to love it.

Been playing Nas - Illmatic all day today, its an old one but just never gave it a listen before. Been flicking between "The World Is Yours" and "The World Is Gore" with Necro/Ill Bill/Sabac on their Street Villains album where they rap over the same beat.

When the levee breaks…….,,Led Zep

Gets me in the mood for something big.

hoping our premiership drought will break too!

Then maybe a bit of QOTSA , song for the deaf.

This one has to get a run this week:

Introspective  / On our history

I'm on Fire - Bruce Springsteen

Hurt - Johnny Cash

Dog Days Are Over - Florence and the Machine - good for when we salute as well i guess.

I’d add this number to introspectives on our history (at times).

If we’re feeling particularly ridiculous, this could get an airing… Tis in keeping with demons, Beelzebub and what have you.

I've always been a bit of a U2 nuffy. I used to buy / trade / sell a lot of their rare vinyl which included numbered copies & the odd test pressing. I visited the joshua tree (it's nowhere near Joshua Tree National Park) long before it died and fell over and when living in Dublin used to end my morning runs at their recording studio on Hanover Quay.

I'm aware that they aren't everyone's cup of tea however so am adding a great little tune by Manchester band Elbow called One Day Like This which they played at Glasto a few years ago.

Can't say I have a particular favourite or go-to song; it's more a case of what I feel like at the time.

Last night it was Beck, Weezer and Alex Chilton.  Tonight will something entirely different.

No matter what your choice however, it beats listening to the appalling TV commentary.

Heartening to know there’s another Chilton fan here.

Illmatic is a classic. Maybe the purest hip hop album.

By the way if anyone can go from metal to hip hop in the next sentence without batting an eye lid, then I know I could probably talk music with them for hours :)

I really only listen to metal (Stoner through to Death/Doom/Black) and rarely get into new bands these days either but there are always exceptions each year for me. Those two I mentioned amongst them.

Dusk, Vempire and Cruelty are COFs best. In fact close to masterpieces. Midian is good but was also the beginning of them selling out. Nymphetamine also has its moments.

Closest I get to hip hop is Public Enemy, NWA and alike from my teenage years.

Got some old school White Zombie playing now, Blur the Technicolour and Blood, Milk & Sky from Astro Creep: 2000

Just gave Chance the Rapper's album Acid Rap a go - was good but I think I like my rap with more energy. Will play it again tomorrow.

Cradle of Filth - Cruelty & the Beast up next on my playlist

Can La Sexorcisto get a look in? Grindhouse a go-go? :)

Cradle takes me back, haven't listened to them since Godspeed and Midian was the last album I enjoyed. Her Ghost in the fog remains my favourite Cradle track.

I used to thrash Cradle of Filth when going to the gym, great workout music 🤣 Also used to love other old school punk/metal like Dead Kennedys, Pantera, Lard and the album Jello did with DOA.

One of my favourite Doom/Stoner/drone bands is Boris, their albums/EPs Feedbacker and Flood are masterpieces. Early Electric Wizard are a favourite too (hence my avatar) and Time Travelling Blues by Orange Goblin is another great album, it just oozes cool for me with those thick guitar riffs.

Loving this thread, I'm always looking for new bands to get in to so will be great to see what others on here are listening to.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
