What they're saying down at Moorabool Street (in an alternative universe)

I watched the Scott pressa. He's a problem. Bizarre. They will never win a premiership with him as coach.

Umm . . .

Does goody talk that annoyingly or am I biased and don’t notice cos he is our coach

He is the polar opposite. Never makes excuses, never shifts blame, never tries to deflect. He should get more praise for this attitude, particularly as it so patently exposes Scott’s tendency to smug entitlement. Goody acts like his players are entitled to nothing other than respect for effort, which he gives them in spades. Also, he always thinks first and foremost about the supporters. Us.

I thought Scott's pressa started fine and was pretty fair.  His commentary on dominating the game was largely about keeping his team's confidence up.  Obviously the ruck is a major worry for them and Stanley has been pretty serviceable for the second half of the year, but to say he dominated Gawn until the last quarter was a massive stretch.  Again that was to help Stanley's ego, but truth is he was absolutely smashed and Kane Cornes pointed out how pathetic his effort in the last play was.  Occasionally you'll get some interesting insight out of these things, but at this stage of the year it's really all about keeping your team "up".

Goody's pressas are the biggest non-event since the days of Yabby Jeans.  Doesn't give away much at all.

unfortunately, I live in Geelong.

I had a million texts and messages at the end of the game. they were all gracious in defeat and complimentary.

It made me hate the even more

I give Chris Scott credit for acknowledging the " strange"  decisons at the end including Brayshaw's. He can't say anything more critical otherwise he gets fined for free speech by the AFL.

But having said that there were 4 blatant frees to the Dees in the last 3 minutes not paid, incl holding the ball, in the back, and importantly the unpire warning danger to move out of Levers zone.  He should have been paid a 2nd 50.

Selwood did a deliberate also at that time not paid.

Thos umpires I suspect can pack up their gear - season over on last nigth's performance from them.

He said as much when asked about tweaks and mods to turn the game around.

I'm not divulging anything on that topic was his reply.  Classy!

Media saying controversial 50 against Close!!!! Wtf

. No cats supporters should question it.
it was a dumb thing to do and deserved the 50. Everyone knows it.

I just wished lever had of ran in to him (Close) as he didn’t get out of the way  and had his back to lever, so if lever was (tapping his head dangermouse style) smart he could’ve been kicking from the goal line had he ran up to him and bumped him

I was looking forward to reading some indulgent whining from the cats supporters and hating on them. The comments are very reasonable though.

I hope we're that gracious when we lose

Commentators seemed pretty happy it was there and scathing of the deliberate against Brayshaw.

Was screaming for this!

How he managed to hit Max up like that, I'll never know.

Yep the commentators were losing it over the Gus deliberate. Absolute joke. Umpires have no feel for the game. It really is a massive issue.

The umpiring was pretty average all night. I would have thought that the two top 4 battle games would have been auditions for the 6 umpires they thought were most likely for the prelim/GF?

I honestly don't know what was worse. Paying it against May as he fell over, or against Brayshaw trying to get it forward.

That was disgraceful too. Apparently juggling a ball over the line while horizontal is also deliberate 🙄

Really where do we find quality umpires?

I actually think Chris Scott is a great coach, and it would be brilliant to play under him. He goes into bat for his players, tries to find ways to speak positively in press conferences, and actually answers questions with an answer related to the question. He is a bit odd, but you have to be a bit mental to be an AFL coach.

And I am a bit surprised to see those responses from Cat supporters - they seem to genuinely rate our players.

The 2 main things coming from Moorabool St are spot on

  • 1) Their ruck set up is a mess considering how well they are placed in the top 4 for the finals
  • 2) ageing list.

Or against Oliver as Hawkins tried to do the slam the head in the ground manoeuvre.

Atkins - was either dropping it or deliberate

When a game is so epic that even the losers aren't interested in sour grapes, that's good football.

Has anyone pointed out to these opposition clowns that we have beaten every team in the league, except Collingwood this season. Have a think about that!

Chris Scott is slicker. But I know who comes across as more genuine. For all the criticisms, I suspect Goody's biggest plus is that he backs the players to the hilt. And that can't be underestimated.

It ain’t gonna be Stevic. Woeful stuff.

Exactly this. May wasn’t even in control of the ball, and didn’t register a disposal. So how can it be insufficient intent?

And the Geelong player who toe poked the ball OOB under Melb pressure, from about s metre away with no Geelong player in sight in the last qtr. How was that not deliberate? I counted three frees against us, none against them. Symptomatic of the umpiring on the night.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
