Thanks for the intel

do you mean we couldn’t agree personal terms with him or compensation with Freo?

I would’ve deeply enjoyed giving Peter Bell the Dodoro treatment. Especially after his nonsense with Hogan. But it would’ve been really unfair for Cerra knowing he might end up in the draft, and it would’ve opened up our list for poaching.

The Hawks going all in on Wingard and forcing out a good young player in Burton was the best case result and hardly guaranteed

We need Casey players.

We had a blessed run with injury this year and are cutting a lot of depth.

Jones, Jetta, Vanders, Lockhart and potentially Melksham. All of them got a bit of game time this year and were ready if needed.

I was happy that all these players were there for depth this year and likewise happy that we are moving them on now.

The weird thing is that with Brayshaw, Harmes, Jordon and Sparrow all being best 22 (or 23) we are actually light on for inside bulls at Casey!

We will also want to draft a young kpf and young ruck at some point soon.

Agree. And allows us to go for inside mids down the order who might be a little bit of smokey. Like Howes and Knevitts who are bigger bodies and have no real exposed form and see what happens. If they dont come on, so be it.

Carlton looms as one potential candidate for Lewis Young as it searches for key position depth.

The Blues have also been linked to a possible play for West Coast's Jarrod Brander.

With Cerra and Hewitt, it looks like Carlton will get every player changing clubs in the AFL.

The Brown paper visy bags must be working overtime!

all in the same year as they re-sign Cripps and McKay long term and with Walsh due to be signed on again.

they're either doing something very very dodgey, or noone else is getting more than rookie wage.

We cooking anything else Chook?
This is the most bland week of the season given we just won a flag. Give us some spice.

Happy to not share what i know each and every year šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

No skin off my nose.

And to the initial question - no mail currently.

Hope we aggressively trade into the first round of this years draft & go after another red head

We love your posts. Keep them coming!

A decade of rebuilding has meant that I'm programmed to check this forum every day for news at this time of year.

We all know that we are going to do sweet f&$# all this year but are all still here.

I hate being a creature of habit.

How ordinary are the delisted senior players across the competition? I'm glad we won the flag and don't require a lot of pieces to go again. There's not a great deal on the market.

Apologies ā€˜Chook’, I initially thought this was a joke post in vein of ā€œmake no mistake, he was going to play for us if he signed a contract with us, but he didn’t so he won’t (play for us).ā€ Keep the rumours and riddles coming!

Don't know if already mentioned, but Gold Coast are in a world of hurt. Rumour is they have severe salary cap issues, despite their poor list. Look for them to potentially trade out some of this year's picks. Not sure if we can get in on the action, but will be something to keep an eye on.

If that is true then our competition has some problems.

Yep.

Even if we wanted to potentially add a depth player there's literally nothing that sticks out in the current market.

I suppose they are delisted for a reason.

was reading about a salary dump trade GC/North were looking at which would be roughly be as follows;

North Melbourne acquire Daniel Macpherson (paying majority of the wage) and Pick 19

Gold Coast Get either late 3rd of 4th round.

Would the AFL approve this trade?

Something doesn't add up

How were they potentially keen on Treloar last year, and now how a salary cap that's stuffed to the point they're forced to do salary dumps?

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by ā€œtheyā€ the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
